So was Auburn....CPH eluded to this being a point of emphasis that the team addressed and responded really well to, hence KD 9 rebs .... I honestly Can't give enough props to this caliber of staff that Penny has assembled....They aren't relevant in re; to name recognition, however these guys are blending and creating a nutritious smoothie....

Take this into consideration....analyze the Auburn game from the perspective of the amount of unforced turnovers that Memphis had amongst ourselves....Ten also analyze the flow of the game Auburn could have realistically gotten blown out by 30+ in front of their home crowd.....

Damaria seems more of a ball-control type player, his leadership/instincts; combined with raw athleticism and strength at finishing....If he just applies himself to being a "supreme" defender;ball-control and chases long-rebounds and loose balls.....We could potentially throttle teams such as Auburn into submission.... Just reflect on that Baylor team from a couple years back.....That team is NOW MEMPHIS

You can only get in game shape by actually playing in games.

Coaches say that all the time, but I'm not so sure. For example, Lomax and Deandre seem like they are in constant game shape - day 1. OTOH Malcolm has never been in game shape in 4 years.

You cannot use the first 1-3 games as a reasonable measure. Everybody is realistically working themselves into peak game shape at game 1. Some players will of course come in more game ready than others but everyone is still starting at game 1 together. That is dramatically different than coming into a season 10 games into it. All players should be more or less into "game shape" at this point at the season while Franklin is just starting.

If he has been practicing with the team then it will not take him long to work into game shape but it will likely be a few games before he is ready to play 25+ minutes.

I know - I've heard the same explanation for years.
And the logic makes sense.
I'm just saying what I've observed - some have it from day 1 and some don't.
Based on last night, I think Damaria is ready.
