On December 12, 1983, one week after being named Metro Conference Coach of the year, Rex Dockery, assistant coach Chris Faros, freshman defensive back Charles Greenhill and Highland Hundred member Glen Jones were killed in an airplane crash while enroute to attend the Lawrenceburg, Tennessee Quarterback Club Awards Banquet.

Seems like yesterday…

We say it all the time, but Greenhill was such a talented player.

Dockery had this program on the move.

Prayer for all the families involved

I often wonder where we would be if Coach Dockery and the others had survived. But then, quickly, I come back to our overall journey since then.

What a real tragedy for all of the families involved.

Suppose he was still here in 1988 and had the program rolling. Remember the Tennessee team that came into Memphis 0-6 that year? Under Dockery the Tigers probably win that game and make them 0-7. Would that have been enough for UT to fire Johnny Majors, and perhaps hire Dockery back to his alma mater?

My thoughts exactly. I remember sitting there just dumbfounded at the news.

That's where they were headed, but can't recall where the plane actually went down.
