Then don’t read the thread? It’s always weird times when schools are changing conferences, but we didn’t leave in the middle of the night like the 3 sbc schools, and we are all here until the year is over.

If the AAC had asked you to move this year you would have done it.

You don’t know that, and we didn’t, so that’s where we are at today. The AAC board doesn’t want to read it and you guys don’t want to read it, it’s a lose-lose. But, we are still members of CUSA and this is where we will be until the move is made. If you don’t want to read it, don’t click it.

clt says the lowly sunbelt waived fees so a few teams could join early, no issue for the teams going to the American

Yeah. In hindsight it looks like the Sun Belt was hoping by adding their 3 early they would get a jump on the rest of the G5 and be able to claim the top spot, but it didn't work out that way. Marshall was solid, but USM was a .500 team in the SB West. And, ODU was still terrible. Plus, the flagships (App St. & Coastal) took a little step back. Now the Belt is losing their top coaches to bigger programs. This is why the Belt is becoming the MAC of the South.

Haven’t they always been the mac of the south with a year or two of hope thrown in?

I don't think the Sun Belt was the MAC of the south back when UNT, FAU, Denver, FIU, & New Orleans were all there together. But, their recent strategy of expansion by tightening up their footprint with smaller rural programs is very MAC like, and I believe it will ultimately marginalize the Belt's relevance within the FBS.

Littrell is getting a nice $1.6 million parting gift (buyout) from UNT.

Have any names emerged as top candidates to land the job, SSJ? I haven't heard much on Twitter. Seems unusually quiet with the transfer portal opening and early signing day right around the corner.

Middle of the night? We told CUSA we were leaving, Judy said “no, you’re not”, and we left. It all played out in the light of day.

The AD will be introduced on Monday. The new coach should be announced by Friday at the latest. Baker and Mosley had a list and our president was up to date on where we were looking. Some new options have become available in recent weeks and those options had to be considered too. Remember, these things are vetted by search firms. Justin Fuente was a name that has been circulated since fans were looking to fire Littrell last season. Others have been spitballed too in recent weeks. I think Bryan Harsin may be getting serious consideration. While he bombed at Auburn, his record at Boise was incredible. Much better G5 record than any other candidate we might be considering. If the next coach is Harsin, I'm sure we'd want to roll him out at the Frisco Bowl Saturday, since we are facing Boise State. Harsin has no mitigation requirements in his contract with Auburn, meaning should he take a new job it won't reduce the buyout he is owed from Auburn. Personally, I think Harsin just checks every box for UNT.
