"End Zone Club" replacing Tailgate Terrace for playoff game
It was mentioned in another thread, but this seems like something that's getting glossed over a little.

https://www.my1693.com/events/fy22/regio...gistration

$100 for entry per person (kids free) probably means that there's gonna be a wet empty tent behind the end zone. Given how popular that area has been this season, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come or we'll basically have given up fan presence in the end zones in a short-sighted move to get a couple extra bucks.

Edit: Adding the text from the signup link (bolding to match announcement)

Quote:Saturday, December 3rd
12:30 p.m. - End of game

Come cheer on the Tribe from the end zone (formally Tailgate Terrace) for an up close and private VIP Tribe playoff game experience. Limited tickets available, register now!

Cost: $100 each and kids enter for free

Amenities include:
 - Access to on-field hospitality area with furniture and flat-screen televisions
- Buffet-style meal, beer and wine

Access to the on-field hospitality area is for fans who have a game ticket.

*This is an add-on experience. Game tickets will need to be purchased separately. See link in email*

I wouldn't be surprised if "formally" was supposed to be "formerly". The page looks a lot more like "get something up" than "make sure it's grammatically correct".

VBC and Old City BBQ declined to operate Tailgate Terrace for the game.

My cursory online research, points to public alcohol sales only being approved for the NCAA Championship title game. Since the playoff games are technically under the administration of the NCAA, I could find nothing that opened up the restriction at other NCAA administered events. I think this VIP option is, also, a default of the current NCAA regulations and not a permanent change to in-season home games.

Unless per Sandy's insight this was strictly a function of the vendors not participating?

Either way, sounds like "formally" was the correct choice of words.

Think about the logistics. VA Beer and Old City BBQ sold beer/food at retail prices. They control the sales process. The new VIP thing is $100 and offers a buffet. People are going to eat/drink as much as they can for the money. Very different model. I assume that it will be catered by W&M food service.

What I don't understand is why they don't have more food trucks. You could easily have six or eight scattered in corners and at the other end of the field. Get an ice cream truck or two in the beginning of the season for the hot games. This takes very little effort.

Perhaps given the Grand Illumination weekend the VBC and Old City had dedicated resources to cash in on that event. If we get a home game against Weber St. would be interested to see if they are back.

Makes sense that this would have been a short turnaround for the athletic dept then.
