For the love of Poggi's arteries, don't let him find out about Bojangles and Cookout!

Pssssst Charlotte. Do the American and your pals at eCu a solid. Send Biff over to Greenville so we can pick his brain on how to beat Michigan next year. I'll personally buy out B's BBQ and close it to the public that day. Only Mike Houston and Biff need to be there. What do you guys say?

Excited about our new football guy Poggi. Scorched earth High School coach that is currently hanging out at UM. Private Jet and deep pockets and a super unique personality. Charlotte to the AAC will at least be entertaining.

This is definitely an outside the box type of hire. I heard Skip Holtz was one of the other finalists. In the end this might turn out to be brilliant if it works out. Charlotte has a lot to work with and plenty of local talent they can recruit.

I'm sure we'll get a playbook from a soured assistant closer to the game.

It worked out well for Coastal Carolina to have an independently wealthy coach.

My first impression was unfavorable. However, I see the strategic reason for his hire assuming he will dig deep into his pockets and suppress his ego and let his assistants run day to day operations.

Charlotte has nothing to lose so it is not much of a risk. I hope it works.

How wealthy is he and how has his personal wealth helped them? Genuinely asking since I wasn't aware that he was wealthy or that it played a role in their rise.

From my understanding, NIL money isn't a simple pay to play transaction. The student athletes have some obligations (appearances, commercials, promoting, use of likeness, etc) so how do they circumvent that? Do they just make huge donations to NIL collectives and the collectives allocate that money to players in exchange for some of those services? Are they even allowed to make donations with them being the head coaches?

Poggi ran a hedge fund and is apparently loaded. He graduated from Duke and became a teacher then took the job in finance.

In all seriousness, if he turns out to be as good as Moglia was then Charlotte will be in excellent shape going forward. However, at the same time the risks are huge.

I'm rooting for the guy.

I’m not sure how much it helped given the rules at the time but I think he played a part in getting the stadium FBS ready.

Moglia donated a lot of money to ccu for facilities, so even if he could t buy players, his contributions certainly helped with recruiting.

There's still a part of my brain that doesn't accept this hire as real. I hope it works out :|

If Beef Pierogi wears those erotic tank tops every game, I’ll be watching. Charlotte football will be must watch television for the sidelines alone. I’m genuinely intrigued by this hire. I hate to admit it but I think this might actually be a clever hire for the fine folks in niner nation.

the kind of hire i wouldn't even think about, so i love it because that tells me the people being paid to make these decisions are actually doing research and analysis and not just hiring a name that people won't question. i also love the age. o'leary's age was the reason UCF was able to establish itself, he wasn't going anywhere after the results started speaking for themselves.

seems to be made for the NIL era as well.
