After the extension is there realistically any chance of that?

Plus your still odds on to play UTSA in championship unless WKY or FAU slide in with a NT loss to Rice.

Littrell hasn't received an extension since he stopped winning, and that was before COVID. Next season is the last year of his current contract. His buyout drops significantly at the end of this season. He has yet to win a C-USA title or a bowl game. In his 7th season at UNT he is 43-43. That is terrible and undeserving of the money he is being paid. Littrell should have been fired at the end of last season.

Got it, I just realized I was confusing him for Stockstill. That said, a shot at the conference, a bowl game and moving at the end of this season it seems very unlikely.

Most FAU fans have been thinking the same thing about Taggart but we are in a very similar situation. Shot at conference, most likely a crappy bowl game and moving conferences I highly doubt he’s going anywhere.

I don't think so. Our AD knows the fan base is fed up. Season ticket sales were down this past season, and attendance and interest continue to decline even as UNT ranks among the top of C-USA. Most of those that follow and care about North Texas football understand Littrell is only going to struggle more as we move to the AAC and they are not going to continue throwing good money after bad.

It is at the point where our AD's mismanagement in football is beginning to hurt his own prospects. Some are beginning to question whether our AD is a basketball guy that can't figure out how to build a football program. He needs UNT football to be a winner even more than our fan base. Baker is smart and knows he can't afford to keep an underperforming Littrell for another season. His own career can't afford it.
