MACtion Viewership Numbers
https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college...v-ratings/
WMU and BG drew the best, nearing 500k. This week should have a couple bigger draws. You can go week by week and see how we have faired. ESPNU on Saturdays at noon dont even grab a number. Its obvious why we do this.
I believe UT vs Ohio State on fox was the largest total of any MAC game. BG has had some good ones.

WMU-BG on a Wednesday outdrew UCF-Memphis on a Saturday. Both on ESPN2.
What it tells me that outside of the bluebloods drawing is mostly about what platform you are playing on more so than anything else.

And the window. I wouldn't be surprised if that Central Florida game had a bigger share. I would guess the overall television audience is bigger in a weeknight.

Very true, I remember the old “womens softball outdrew the NHL” because one was on ESPN and the other was on OLN.

Platform and opposition. The WMU-BG game was unopposed, meanwhile Memphis-UCF ran against TN-Georgia which had 13.5M viewers. Also at that same time slot 2.3M people watched Penn State-Indiana.

Here's who goes to AAC games.
This was South Florida's last home game in sunny, great weather on a Saturday. Looks like maybe 4k tops and they reported nearly 25k. NIU game at Tulsa reported over 22k but looked like maybe 10k.

Wazzu drew just 21K announced to a Thursday home game against ranked Utah. I know Pullman is in the middle of nowhere, but P5 teams aren't immune either.

USF is the LAST PLACE team in the AAC. USF attendance is awful and has been for several years. The team has been bad this year, 1-9 overall and 0-6 in the AAC. They also play home games in an off-campus stadium, Raymond James Stadium, that is several miles from campus. USF is desperately trying to fund an on-campus stadium.
This year, East Carolina is averaging 40,000+, Cincinnati is averaging 38,000+ and UCF is averaging 37,000+. The AAC is doing just fine with attendance.
Way to cherry-pick the worst team in the AAC to try and make your argument. FAIL.

You just cherry-picked UCF and Cincy as why they are doing well. Guess what, UCF and Cincy are on their way to Big 12 after this season. Those schools should have good attendance! Cincinnati and Orlando are big cities and UCF and Cincy have student populations over 40k. DeKalb is a podunk town way out in the cornfields, as are most other MAC schools. Either way, Tampa in November on a Saturday in great weather and a big city should have more than 4k for a USF game-- last place or not.
Temple, Tulsa, USF, Tulane, etc. aren't getting UCF and Cincy type attendance. So in reality many of their schools are closer to MAC attendance than your cherry-picked schools.
BTW, my response was to doss2 who seems to come on the MAC board just to troll.

Check out the Tulsa game on TV tonight. Hardly anyone there...
Here is a picture of SMU game when they played a ranked Cincinnati team on Oct 22. SMU reported 23.5k for this game.

RE: MACtion Viewership Numbers
I was stunned by all the empty seats at the Rose Bowl in Bowling Green's opener against UCLA. It was not good weather -- temperatures broke 100 that afternoon. Even so, I didn't expect the building to be three-quarters empty. The atmosphere felt very much like #MACtion -- and this for a program about to join the Big Ten.
(The Rose Bowl concessions, on the other hand? Outstanding. Bowling Green's concessions are less than stellar.)

Oh look at this lovely Cincy fan on the MAC board. Toledo does just fine for MACtion attendance all things considered playing on a freezing cold Tuesday night. And this whole lack of attendance thing is a NATIONWIDE problem. I've been following @CFBcampustour on Twitter all season long, and his pictures don't lie. From P5 to every single G5 conference, we have an attendance problem! At least the MAC has the excuse of playing in the north in November on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. What was fellow American member Tulsa's excuse for having a worse crowd on a Friday night than any MACtion crowd I've seen this season?
