Wow, that is a surprising score to me. I guess D1 NAIA is a solid step above D3. I honestly based it off of how their team website and schedule looked.

NAIA can give athletic scholarships so the best NAIA teams should be better than NCAA D3s best teams.

I think that is mostly true, but there are some really good D3 teams in the Northeast where there are no NAIA schools. Valley Forge is not one of them.

Both have broken bones in their hands. Ihenacho had his right pinky finger in a splint while Strickland had his right hand wrapped and in a sling. Byington said each could be out a few weeks. Strickland said his recovery could be as much as six weeks.

Thank goodness the ND transfer looks like the real deal.

Just an FYI, Freidel is from Tea, SD and went to South Dakota State

From the DNR article this morning (https://www.dnronline.com/sun_belt_extra...cdd3d.html)

But for the Tea, S.D., native, it was his first game playing more than 10 minutes since Dec. 20, 2021 after he missed time at South Dakota State, citing depression and anxiety.

And Freidel was happy to be back on the floor.

“It was super nice to just see the ball go in,” Freidel said. “It’s been a while since we’ve had a game, me especially. It was nice to get back on the court, get the rhythm going again.”

Freidel is an absolute bucket. Not only is he a tremendous shooter but the man loves to get physical, box out properly and grab a rebound. I hope he gets along with the team and gels well. I think he and tak are going to be the keys to success on this team. Edwards is good and fun to watch as a fearless player, but tak and freidel are I think the motors that will drive this bus.

I really think it'd be better if we played a handful of really local teams (Bridgewater, W&L, VMI, EMC, hell the whole ODAC if you really want to.) than ship in a victim.

Hey, now. There is no Lefty curse. Without Lefty, a whole generation of Dukes wouldn't know that it's even possible to be competitive in men's basketball.

Matt Brady proved that, too, but he was a dick apparently and couldn't string two winning seasons in a row together.

I agree. Those teams will draw.

Why not take the 12 best basketball players from the band and the bandoliers start the game with 70 points...free beer and sticky nugs if the band wins

or we could just schedule basketball teams that offer scholarships to the players

RE: JMU vs Valley Forge
Crazy game! We were playing out of our minds and Valley Forge is horrible! They averaged 25% FG, 29% 3PT, and 33% FT. We averaged 61% FG, 64% 3PT, and 90% FT. If we can do that all season long (we can't), no one is going to beat us!

On the bright side for Valley Forge, their designated 3-point artist, Jeff Spicoli, aka Bongwater Bob, was 50% (1 for 2), both FG and 3PT, and outscored three of Valley's starters (LOL!), even though he only played 8 minutes.

RE: JMU vs Valley Forge
The Caveman 3-baller is absolutely going to be my favorite player this year in college hoops. He was intriguing before the game, but now that I’ve seen him in action, I need to see more.
Hopefully Valley Forge streams their games.

Very fun to see him hop around behind the 3 point line always begging for a pass because he was ready to launch 3’s. The one time he mistakenly tried to go inside the arc, he got a dump truck charge. C’mon Caveman, stay in your lane and launch 3’s with impunity.
On defense he reminded me of a guy in High School that we called Spaz D. Uncoordinated and runs around while flailing his arms with no purpose, but will foul the schit out of you every play if he can get close to you. Great entertainment.

I would seriously look forward to the "band game" if the rest of the band plays "basketball" by Kurtis Blow at halftime while Bourne and Alger break dance

This

Yep; the intramural champs used to be always be football players who choose the gridiron over basketball. There were usually a few guys who could have made the men’s basketball team.
