I love losing the Bubas Cup.

Well you're wrong ... it's been complained about for years because it's dumb.

Yeah USA kinda ran away with it at the end. And it wasn't even baseball's fault like we all thought it'd be!

Xactly. We've had crap football for a decade (some would say we have no football) yet we've won it twice.

Or, hear me out, it determines a well rounded program (which is exactly what it is).
Not the champion in every sport but always up there in the standings.....
I mean, that's exactly how it works.

RE: 2022-2023 Bubas Cup Standings
I think it's pretty much fine the way it is. It's easier to maintain a high level of performance over a small sample size so I don't like the idea of ranking by the percentage of possible points earned. That goes the other direction and gives an advantage to schools sponsoring less SBC sports in my opinion. If there were going to be a change I think the best way would be something like taking the total points in your top 15 sports. There are 19 sports counted right now, using your top 15 would take away most of the disadvantage from missing just a few without going too far the other way. Sponsoring more sports is still an advantage as you get to knock off your lowest scores rather than knocking off sports you don't sponsor and keeping your lowest scores.

At the end of the day though it's not a huge deal, it's a fun challenge for bragging rights. It's really cool to see JMU perform so well and spend so much of the year on top in our first year, especially while missing more sports than the other top schools. Congratulations to USA and their fans, obviously a well rounded athletic department and great company to be in as the two schools sitting up top most of the year.

It's an unbalanced metic ... I have no issues with the fact it takes into account all the sports. I take issue with all of the sports being worth different points and their being bonuses for some sports but not others.

Outsider looking in but an all sports trophy should reward schools that sponsor all sports.

Trying to justify why you’re next to last in the conference while offering the same number of sports as South has to be embarrassing. Maybe you could put that effort in trying to win. That’s the way us cavemen do it.

This board will be a whole lot better when people can carry an argument without using ULM as a way to make a point. How ULM finishes has nothing to do with how this system is flawed. Carry on with your middle school logic of arguments.

RE: 2022-2023 Bubas Cup Standings
The Sun Belt site has yet to post the final standings for baseball to the Bubas totals so I decided to give it a whirl. I probably made a mistake, as is my wont to do, but I did try.
Here's what I came up with as final numbers:
USA - 142
JMU - 132
Louisiana- 126.5
TXST - 125 03-banghead we won last year
USM 124.5
CCU - 121.5
stAte - 110.5
Troy - 109.5
GS - 104.5
MU - 103
App - 91.5
ODU - 79.5
ULM - 76.5
GSU - 65

I found some discrepancies in the women's tennis and beach volleyball tabulations and have contacted the conference office for clarification. That's why I haven't added in the baseball totals. If I don't get an answer by tomorrow, I'll likely post what I believe to be the correct totals tomorrow night.

It's not you. They haven't even added baseball on the site yet, and the only Bubas article I could find was about last years' results.

They're slacking.
