USA receiving votes as well. There's a chance we could get back in along with another Fun Belter within a few weeks if we keep winning and things go well with teams above and around us. Hopefully the bye week goes well with teams above us losing more than teams just below us getting statement wins. Then after that we get Louisville and a P5 win would sure help perception.

Was that the NC all over again?

EXACTLY what I thought! Watching Centeio sling the ball all over the field, especially the 30-yard incompletions on third and short were so frustrating that I was screaming at my TV, which is bigger than GSU's tiny jumbotron, BTW.

For a coach with a reputation of being old school conservative, Cig sure likes to air it out in situations that make you scratch your head.

Shades of Frisco when we ran the ball down the smelly Bisons' throats on our first drive, then said, "Wow, that worked great, so let's start slinging the ball all over the field so that NDSU doesn't feel left out and can not only catch up, but also kick our ass."

Same thing in Statesboro.

So, I guess the really bad news is that Cig did not learn that lesson in Frisco or Statesboro, so we are likely to see it again and again. I pray that I am wrong.

Cig, hire Mickey Matthews as OC.

We didn't fall as far as I thought we could have. Ranked #32 down 7 spots from last week. Looks promising for sure as long as we continue to win.

This was a close loss to a team that beat Nebraska. It's not as bad as some here view it, Georgia Southern is a good team that is improving under a new coaching staff.

I'm just a little surprised to see some voters view it that rationally instead of "well they're a G5 and aren't undefeated, see ya."

Keep in mind that of course this means there are some voters still considering us top 25 which is excellent. Kinda stating the obvious but it's easy to look at it and go "they consider us 32nd best!" when it's really "some consider us top 25!"

Yep, it'll take another 3 or 4 wins to get us into the top 25, but it's actually possible again this year if we clean up the issues that plagued us yesterday.

Only two voters had us in their top 25. I'm 95% certain David Thompson made an error and didn't mean to put us at #21 in the country. He had us at #24 last week, so moved us up 3 spots with a loss?

I believe we are still Top 25. Of course, I'm insanely pro-purple. So, there's that.

But it was a quality loss? Ha

We are on the board and voter's minds now. Just keep winning, and we'll be back.

This is what I wanted! Not the loss of course, but playing competitive games that really mean something and get the excitement going. There will be other tough losses like this in the future but this is what builds rivalries. This is a real new reality for our fan base. Looking forward to the game next week, and also when Georgia Southern visits the burg. Go Dukes!

Some people forget that GS beat Nebraska, albeit a bad Nebraska team. But still the name recognition is there.

To be honest not upset with the loss and think this could a healthy step forward for the team. It will give them the areas needed for improvement. Not a bad thing, but a good learning lesson to move forward.

If we manage to win out (a very tall task), theres still a chance of finishing in the top 25.

Honestly, I would really hope so. I mean, 10-1 is, in a lot of ways, more impressive than 5-0.

My biggest worry now that someone has figured out how to beat us (and it's not just that we beat ourselves - GaSo threw for a *LOT* of yards.) is that several upcoming opponents will figure that out too. We'll find out over the next 2 weeks.

If upcoming JMU opponents can throw for over 600 yards against the Dukes then the rest of the season looks bleak. But that’s not going to happen. Nor is JMU likely to give up more blocked punts for TDs and turn the ball over 4 times a game.

Moving forward, JMU will be fine. I’m not saying JMU will win out, but the possibility is there. Finishing anywhere from 10-1 to 8-3 would be the range for wins as I see it. The way the team responds to Marshall will give us fans a preliminary clue. I’m betting the team bounces back strong.

Go Dukes!

I'd argue Nebraska isn't quite as bad as their record would suggest. Most of the losses were close games, outside of #6 Oklahoma. They could have easily been 5-2 or 6-1 with a couple lucky breaks.

What is being missed in all the breakdown comments is GA Southern's offensive line.

The reason the qb threw for all those yards is because we never laid a hand on him. He had a perfect pocket

to throw from and plenty of time to do it. They even picked up our blitzes. No pass rush was the difference

in that game.

The sky is definitely not falling.
Many may have predicted we'd have 1 loss (or more) going into Marshall before the season started.
I think this team (and us) can stop worrying about not being eligible for bowl games/conference title/etc now.
Take care of business and just win.
I am still fired up for the rest of this season and want to demolish Marshall. We need this win.

Cig is great....we re all fallable.... repeating a big mistake in strategy, like this, is probably an area he could use a little coaching himself

RBs are tired? No way after 6 games and how we rotate...OL dinged up? Next man.... Ya don't change identity like this. Todd has looks so good because the play calling was so smart up until 2H of this game....way too many long balls into double coverage.

To steal from bball....set yourself up for the layups.

Yeah the best explanation I can think of is that PAO and Black were banged up and even then that's not a great explanation. PAO was the better fit vs GS than Latrele imo but Palmer was still doing well. What about Knight? Malignaggi? They aren't Percy or Black but could've given one of them a shot against a weak run D.

We'll be fine, and the biggest issue was obviously the way they were able to exploit our secondary and negate our pass rush. Going away from the run game was a head scratcher though. If we hadn't done such a great job of taking what's given the rest of the year I'd be more concerned, but at this point it's just one game against a team that's very good when they play their best and avoid turnovers.
