Wow, pretty cool. I haven't had a Sirius sub in a while, but now I'm tempted to reactivate it. Some car rentals have it also as I recall.

Love Sirius overall as I am in the car a lot. ESPNU radio is great and now that JMU is FBS and doing well almost every show mentions JMU and/or Sun Belt everyday. Almost to a person they are very high on JMU and the Sun Belt.

Funny - I've been an XM subscriber since they just came on the air, and really loved it for a while. But I never liked Sirius' "big name" approach (all those damned one-artist channels), *2* Howard Stern channels, and so on. Discovering music has gotten really hard with them (they want to stick with the known hits, which is great for sales but terrible for long-term listeners). They used to have a jam-bands channel, and now it's just a Phish channel. They already have yacht rock _and_ Jimmy Buffett, and I'm the rare apostate who hates U2, and I've had times where they're on 33, 34, and 8 all at the same time. Barf.

And this is the real thing - I've gotten sick and tired of the entire playlists of about 5 channels now. I'd love to check out the "new funk" channel, but that's not there. "modern jazz" was on XM but not sirius. Jazz? You'd better really like Duke Ellington. I guess I could listen to an LA top-40 station, but that's about my only option.

Plus they moved MLB to the premier tier. I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and drop them. I wonder how they're going to stay relevant as LTE and 5G get broader coverage in the next 10 years.

This is pretty cool. I hope they carry the postgame show as well. I tune into the local Harrisonburg FM channel on the drive home after games but lose the signal before it's over.

For me, SiriusXM is worth it just for Underground Garage and Deep Tracks (even though I don't drive nearly as much these days as I did pandemic).

This seems like a big deal even though many do not have SiriusXM radio.

It's cool to be associated with them and to have our own channel, at least during the football games.

Anyone know or have a way to check if channel 205 is included in the mid tier "music and entertainment" package? Or only in platinum?

The website is awfully obscure about exactly which channels in which package. It just says "some" sports channels in the mid package.

Would think we might be able to air basketball also on there.

If not. you can always Stream WSVA on the Tunein Radio app. I have the lowest tier of Sirius and looked on my phone app. My app has a gap from 174 to 301.

Man I feel the exact same way about it, I had XM and then Sirius XM back in high school and for a while after and loved it. My main genre is hip hop and it used to be so great for discovering newer, less known artists. Then it gradually became more and more the same stuff you hear everywhere else that's mostly awful and I stopped renewing it. I have better luck just checking out people I see talked about on Twitter or letting Spotify play radio based on a smaller artist I already know I like.

They did go through a lot of changes, XM was definitely better and easier to find channels.

Smooth Jazz Watercolors on XM66 and Seriously Sinatra on XM70. My go to channels.

Washington DC area radio is an absolute wasteland these days. Greatly miss the old smooth jazz station WJZW.

RE: JMU Sportnetwork Now On SiriusXM Channel 205
I had Sirius from 2002 to about 2007. I remember when they were celebrating 100,000 subscribers. It was great in the early days--so much variety. But my long commutes disappeared when I changed jobs and I dropped it. Thing is, today I can listen to whatever I want in the car on my phone. I just don't see the need for SiriusXM, especially when the sound quality is better over cellular.

ANYWAY, a LOT of folks do have SiriusXM and it's great to be on one more outlet. Some guy driving through BFE with no cell coverage will appreciate it.
