I am curious to see where the Committee will rank the G5s. I think the first committee rankings are in November. AP/Coaches poll have been a lot nicer to the G5s recently but the Committee might think differently.

12-1 Tulane would have wins @KSU, @Cincy, @UCF, and vs. Cincy in the CCG. That should punch the ticket over a one-loss CCU.
If Cincy Tulane or UCF win out they will get the NY6 bid. No one is getting a playoff bid this year.

Honest question; why do you think that’s acceptable behavior? I’m being serious. I’ve been on this board for about two years and instead of engaging in a lively dialogue or discussion your default position is to insult and denigrate. Why? Why do you think that’s acceptable?

Haven’t looked at the schedule yet, but is that possible? In other words 1 to 3 of them all face each other at least once?

So coastal would be in no matter what. Is coastal loses again to an unranked opponent, they will probably fall out of the rankings. The AAC continues to beat each other up, and if the champ has three or more losses, that’s going to be tough as well. If we, (Boise State), run the table, including a win over BYU, I think we get in. Or San Jose State. The mountain west is terrible this year, so I don’t see us or them having many more losses for the rest of the season. Obviously a ton of time left and a ton of “what-ifs” but fun speculating none the less.

I was just looking at a similar scenario yesterday. And you know what? If Boise and Rice both run the table with two losses then you would have to look at the common opponent for the tiebreaker. And that common opponent would be… UTEP.

Anyway, it’s going to the AAC champ unless coastal can somehow remain unscathed.

Cincy hasn't been that impressive. They barely beat USF. Tulane beat Kansas State at Kansas State, so they could probably beat Cincy on a neutral field or at home.

However, they play Cincincinnati @ Cincy, last game of the season, so their chances of beating the Bearcats aren't great on Nov. 26th. If they meet again in the championship game, they might win that one.

Yeah, that UTEP game for us was brutal. But two good things came out of it; our horrifically, inept offensive coordinator was fired the next day and our statue of a quarterback transferred so now we have a young redshirt freshman, athletic freak who’s 6’6, 220 pounds, and since he’s been put in, we are 2-0 and scored 35 unanswered points versus San Diego State and beat Fresno last week 40 to 20. Because the mountain west is so bad this year, there’s a decent chance we can win out. And we still play BYU. But yeah, that UTEP game killed us. Back on topic, if it’s not coastal, I’d like to see Tulane get it. Someone different.

Haven’t looked at the schedule yet, but all the top three teams on your list still play each other? That’s my concern with the AAC this year, there’s so much parity, they’re going to eat their own. I wouldn’t be surprised if the champ has three losses. But it’s going to be fun to watch and speculate about.

Maybe we win convincingly in every remaining game in the regular season to go 10-2, win CUSA championship to go 11-2, and Cincy/Tulane/Coastal/UCF/SJSU all implode.

Don’t clown me, I know this is nearly impossible, but let me have blind faith in my team. That’s what college ball is about 02-13-banana

It’s all about highest ranked conference champion, except for poor James Madison. So every team from here on out should hopefully win the remainder of their games and let the chips fall where they may.

I’m aware. A 11-2 CUSA champion UAB with convincing wins @LSU, vs. UTSA, @WKU and whoever wins the SBC and AAC having 3-4 losses with some later in the season could theoretically put us in the running for highest ranked champ. Also, like I said, I do not expect it to happen. At all. But am holding out hope and crossing my fingers

Great question. The answer is you have been here for however long trolling the American conference. Now you’re going to play at taking the high road? I don’t buy it. You are here with an agenda, insulting the conference.

“Insult the conference“ by openly rooting for Tulane to get in if my team can’t? “Trolling“ is such, such, such a lazy epithet. It’s basically hypersensitive people getting offended by something that they don’t agree with. I have two daughters, and this world is really difficult, way worse than it was when I was growing up. Kindness and civility have gone by the wayside and your post was a perfect example. Nobody made you respond, but you chose to, which is obviously, you’re right, but your initial default position was to insult, denigrate, and belittle. You acted like a bully, and I called you out on it.

Now that we got that out of the way, would you care to actually comment on the topic at hand? all opinions are welcome.

I just hope we have the chance to get to the Championship game. Beating UC twice is a tall task for the most elite P5 programs with a very small exception (Alabama, Ohio St, etc.)

However, sure hope we do have a chance.

It's wide open. Any undefeated team, save JMU has the best shot in my opinion, similar to MAC representative WMU a few years back. I think the American has the best shot, but it is hard to ignore an undefeated team.

There is only one unbeaten team and they are about to play the 5 hardest games on their schedule (6 if they make the conference championship).

That is not counting James Madison, right? Because coastal is undefeated as well. So there are two. But as we all know, Madison is not eligible due to stupid, archaic rules.

No one should have to call it a season because of a weird loss in week two. Good luck to everyone who still has to deal with this crap.
