Given capacity is currently only 8,300, that would be expected.

RE: Week 6 Attendance
Everyone gets all upset about low attendance numbers, but go back and look when Coastal Carolina was FCS, and they were getting 7,000 to 8,000 fans a game. FCS is just not as attractive to most people as FBS.

RE: Week 6 Attendance
Homecoming announced attendance. Good turnout but more likely paid attendance.

I've tried to explain this before on other FCS forums that FCS football in the South doesn't matter. When most people are tuning into SEC and Big 12 games its hard to find a non HBCU in the south that consistently draws over 10k spectators. This is especially true in Texas since it is such a saturated market for FBS football. Jacksonville St is pretty good at getting people to their games but even then it doesn't sniff what these FCS schools in the Dakotas and Montana can do. I'm hoping Sam Houston can follow the Coastal Carolina model and bring in excited fans after a FCS national Championship, Winning 12 straight Battle of the Pineywoods, and the FBS move up next season. Texas just has a poor attendance for any FCS team/ game not called the Battle of the Pineywoods. There are a lot of similarities demographically between Coastal Carolina's move up and Sam Houston's. I'm hoping that Sam Houston can draw fans on the fact that it is within decent driving distance of Houston and is the only FBS team located geographically within East Texas. Sam Houston needs to move forward soon with the stadium expansion and upgrades like they've been talking about in our AD's podcasts.
