Any stabs at what the minimum requirements for Division 1 membership will be?
According to Norlander (CBS), the transformation committee may start to roll out the requirements toward the end of the month.
Other than needing to be in a conference, what could the other requirements be?

I think you should be required to have a football team for a minimum of 20 years.
And you should be required to make the FCS playoffs 4 out of the 5 years before your invite.
I’m actually in favor of ending FCS to FBS transitions completely, but everybody claims that would be an anti trust violation.

I also think that new FBS teams should actually be kicked back to FCS if they don’t meet performance criteria within 5 years. Starting with having to make at least one bowl game in those five years.

Those are both highly unlikely, if anything they're likely to relax the current rules further rather than introduce new barriers to inclusion.

I agree it will be a budget requirement. The old rules of attendance will go away, which has never been enforced.

.
College football has gotten worse since the D1-D2-D3 system went into effect in 1973.
College football was more fun before that. It wasn't "broke," but they "fixed" it and now it's a mess.
Ditch the D1, D2, D3 system and let each school and conference schedule the opponents that it wants to.
.

Maybe not that high, but something in that general direction.

My thoughts is a increase amount of sports required. For football I would keep how scholarships are done but allow schools to play non scholarship teams if they're members of the pioneer league or conferences who don't give the maximum 63 like patriot or NEC. Maybe having minimum requirements for stadiums or arena's would be a good idea with wording that allows the NCAA to modify the requirements every 10-20 years.

How about this? 85% of your sports should be funded at 100%. Put your "big boy" pants on or go home.
Some of these schools who "pretend" to be D1 then split five schollys across an entire Soccer team are a joke.

5% of students play intercollegiate athletics (and at least 300). If below that amount increase by at least 5% per year. Athletes indexed academically, geographically, and by sex (i.e., student athletes should be representative of student body as a whole).
If athletic scholarships at least 1/2 get full ride. Athletic budget $20,000(?) per student-athlete.
Larger schools might have multiple teams: JV, Sophomore, Freshman, A, B, etc.

All that does is drive schools to the minimum. West Virginia, for example, has just seven men's sports.

All FBS schools would be required to have a minimum of 18 sports in my proposal. West Virginia has the money- they are P5- plus Big12 media deal will go up. Sounds like they need a budget overhaul.

What do you tell schools with 30 or more sports, drop teams?

This is the kind of thing university presidents will concern themselves with, yes.

Rules for quantity of sports are stupid if quality and budget of said sports aren't taken into consideration.
