Another former Marine sentenced in Russia
Robert Gilman got drunk and belligerent on a train and got kicked off at the next stop, where he was met by local police who he then assaulted. The “but I love Russian people” and the “somebody must have poisoned my drink” excuses failed to convince the judge who gave him just over 4 years.

Not to be confused with Trevor Reed, the former Marine who got drunk and assaulted Russian police and was sentenced to 9 years. He has already been swapped, in April, for Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko.

Also not to be confused with former Marine Paul Whelan, who was dishonorably discharged, is currently serving a 16 year sentence for espionage. The American corporate security officer also has passports from 3 countries in addition to the US and was arrested with $80,000 in cash on corporates espionage charges. He had traveled extensively in Russia for years before being arrested on his final trip. His brother has stated he held so many passports because he is interested in genealogy.
