FAU does not have to face UTSA this season, which should help.

Charlotte neither, but they already have two conference losses.

Rice at FAU next week should provide an indication.

I really like this 11-team C-USA3.5. Every game seems meaningful. I wish we had a better media deal so that more can watch WKU at UTSA and MTSU at UAB.

I’m not necessarily saying you will be top two, either… but UAB did some things defensively that no other team we’ve played has been able to do. Maybe that’s just having a few games on tape to study, but I think UAB has a legit defense, and probably a very good ground game (even though Rice was able to force you to throw probably more than you wanted to).

I’m not expecting many teams in CUSA to be able to hold us to “14” (as you call it).

General consensus seems to be 8+ wins with a bowl win somewhere in there will be the minimum to keep him around.

So if he goes 7-5 and wins the bowl, he would stay. Anything less and he's likely gone

1. UTSA: look to be a good margin better than second best
2. Rice: has been impressive in the early going. Didn’t expect that; especially after getting blasted by USC
3. WKU:
4. MTSU: dominated Power 5 Miami but they also got destroyed by a good JMU team
5. UAB: seem to have taken a step back this year
6. UNT: better than FAU on one night at least. Not a contender.
7. FAU: FAU has fallen off and they continue a steady decline, Taggart isn’t Lane Kiffin.

I've always liked Rice, but I think some are giving them a little too much respect. I'd place them with MT in the 2nd tier of the conference right now. Maybe I'll feel different by the time UNT plays them in the last week of the season.

Rice scored 21 Offensive points not 14. We had one defensive score.
Also, UAB had a three yard touchdown run on a forced fumble.

With that said, UAB has been the best defensive unit Rice has played this year, IMHO.

Yeah, I think that Rice at number #2 is a bit high right now. I think that WKU and MTSU are in a higher spot relative to where Rice is right now. I also don't think that UAB has taken a step back.

UTSA and UAB. UAB is killing MTSU right now. I'm interested to see the Tech - UTEP game tonight from a conference standpoint. I know we have a new coach, but our schedule has been brutal. Losses at Mizzou and Clemson, and at USA which is two points from being 5-0. If they had beaten UCLA, they would probably be ranked.

I’m gonna honestly say UAB. UTSA has sustained too many injuries which I think could be the deciding factor. We just lost two Defensive starters for the year tonight.

My point was that the first Rice touchdown was imaginary, thanks to the refs, as the ball carrier nor the ball ever touched or crossed the goal line. That was an absolute gift and a different view they used to confirm was never made public. So, that and the backward pass, I don’t attribute to Rice’s offense.

Rice drove on the opening possession all the way to the UAB 1 yard line for the "phantom" score. But hey, whatever. UAB is a good team as demonstrated tonight.
