Maybe UCF would have been crushed as a program instead of USF.

Nah...I think a large portion of the problem with USF was not having an on-campus stadium as weird as that sounds.

No on-campus stadium.

Competition for fans and brand strength against pro teams - Bucs, Rays, Lightning.

Competition for fans and brand strength against other top Florida college football programs - Florida, Florida St, Miami, UCF, et al.

No home run hire/retention since Jim Leavitt - G5 retread Skip Holtz, crash-n-burn Willie Taggart, P5 retread Charlie Strong, and Jeff "Who The Hell Am I" Scott.

They've got a lot of work to do as a program unfortunately for them.

No on-campus stadium and their administration was a dumpster fire for a while which led to odd hires in FB and MBB and still no on-campus stadium. Had they been forward thinking they would have addressed that a decade ago.

The fact that Brian Gregory is still employed tells you all you need to know about that athletic department. He was an awful hire at the time and is about to start year 6.

Yep, they're nearly the polar opposite of UC Athletics the past decade. For the longest time they had no plan for an on-campus stadium; have made poor hiring decisions, and as a result both football and men's basketball have fallen into the obscurity endured by perennial losers.

The stadium issue is not to be underestimated. I know some folks at Pitt who feel the move to an NFL stadium set their football program back. They demolished the campus stadium to build their current basketball arena, given the challenges of a tight urban campus footprint. Had they upgraded on campus, the Panthers may have been able to restore a little more glory to their rich football tradition.

We know firsthand the challenges of making a cavernous NFL facility feel like a home field. Thankfully, Cincinnati doesn't have to do that each week. Think about a blue chip recruit visiting a Pitt game one weekend with all those empty seats and being in Nippert the following week. Easy decision.

Bolded... even if Pitt had kept their football stadium on campus, unless the team performance had been significantly different the amount of empty seats would still be an issue as the capacity diff between the on-campus and off-campus stadia is only changed from 57k (which Pitt had little problems selling/filling when they were rolling) to 68k today...

RE: Bearcats vs USF milk cows
I had been tipped off by AD department staff that 1st summer and after meeting with the man in person at Montgomery Inn and talking about his golf game hole by hole on a course I knew that very day...and then he apparently fed Tim Adams false info and sent him out on the web to defend his honor. I knew we were possibly dealing with a real piece of sh!t.

Funniest part was some dweeb on UC's staff opened an account here and threatened me via PM with a defamation lawsuit. Bwahahah! I told him which firm they could find me at for service purposes and asked him where I should send the spoliation letter so that we could protect the records of the 2 golf course memberships the school paid for and for his personal itinerary for the discovery that was sure to ensue. Crickets...

Honestly reminds me of when UC invested in Varsity Village first instead of football/basketball

RE: Bearcats vs USF milk cows
You know something USF, me and all the other Cincinnati fans have had it up to here with your Frankenstein talk. We're tired of hearing you grovel for words. We're tired of watching you search for thoughts. And I'm tired of hearing USF talking about injecting me and all the other Bearcats fans with poison.

Let me tell you something. December 4th, 2021, when Cincinnati won the championship, the Bearcats held up a banner that said "I fear no other football team or beast." The only thing that wasn't on the banner was a ghost, and that's exactly what you're going to be, USF. After today's football game, when you find out where the real football power lies, and what the greatest team in football is, you and all of your fans, who are reaching up from six feet below, you will be placed alongside all of those other teams. Past, present, and future!

The Bearcats are the greatest football champion there was, and ever will be. And today, they will prove it to everyone who still believes in you!
