ESPN Power ranking 1/3 way through the season
Below is the overall average and the top 5 from each conference. Base off UTSA dropping 13 spots for beating a FCS school the top 2 in the SBC (aPPY St and Marshall) both should have big a drop next week because both are playing FCS teams...both 2nd game of the season vs FCS. BTW anyone know the reason for that? its possible, not likely but possible one of them ends up with 6 wins and not make a bowl because 2 wins over a FCS program.

CUSA 93 (TOP 5 avg 67)
SBC 85.5 (TOP 5 avg 65)
AAC 75 (TOP 5 avg 40)
MAC 108.5
MTW 98

Liberty is at #70 (not included in CUSA average)

One minor correction. App State's game against The Citadel will be their first FCS game of the season. Their second FCS game isn't until late next month against Robert Morris. But you're correct. It's odd that they're both playing two FCS games.

I believe the two FCS games are a result of a scheduling issue as Marshall/App were to play each other OOC this year.

Western plays 13 games this season because of our game @Hawaii and would have put the Austin Peay game off if Marshall wanted to start a home and home....

their AD wasnt looking for a H/H with Western. I bet Todd (Western AD) was open to a h/h with Appy St also. But 53-21 and 59-38 last year with Western playing subs the last 6 minutes I can understand why they would rather play 2 FCS games.

And there is no SBC rule saying you cant play a team twice. While I dont think it will happen, Marshall is more likely than Appy St, I would love to see one of them end up with 6 wins and no bowl because of this.

Not even trying to discount WKU, but I found it weird WKU went up 22 spots just for destroying maybe the worst FIU team ever at home. MTSU goes up only 16 spots for beating a team that was previously ranked #15 in their ranking on the road. Margin of victory must really carry a lot of weight with their system.

Inherent ESPN bias to that poll. MWC and CUSA both lower due to not ESPN not having exclusive media rights.

Just look at 0-4 Georgia State lost to Charlotte on their home field but yet is ranked 18 spots higher at 106.

Rice dominated Lafayette but yet ranked is rank 16 places lower

Probably a lot like the Net in basketball where beating up on cupcakes is rewarded....most likely efficiency ratings

With a wide open G5 this year I hope that IU game a game Western should have won by 14 points and took 6 or 7 things that had to go completely wrong for Western in the last 5 or so minutes to lose that game doesnt bite Western in the rear.
