JMU riding App State’s coattails to prominence
It feels like the stars are aligning so far this year for JMU. App State has been getting a TON of Media love (way more than ever) and by association, JMU has been getting attention too. Between Sportscenter, College Gameday, College Football Final, etc etc I’ve heard JMU mentioned double digit times this weekend. The Sun Belt scheduling guru has dealt James Madison perfect timing to face App State while they are at their pinnacle. The matchup next week already is getting built up repeatedly and there would be nothing finer than to be in Carolina and exit with a 1 point spectacular win 6 days from now. 04-rock

UnderDawgs. The players and coaches have to be relishing that role.

JMU is the media darling in waiting. An exciting win for the Dukes flips the switch and the floodgates open for Uncle Mo’ and his bandwagon.

A win certainly accelerates JMU’s rise to FBS relevance way faster than anyone could have expected in the transition .02-13-banana

I’m a sports junkie and somehow I care even more about college football this year as JMU realizes this is where they should have been for quite a while.

This is the most meaningful game ive attended since 2017 title game. And honestly I think a win in Boone would be bigger.

Indeed. A win by JMU would be catapulted by App’s current stature in the sports media. Transitive property in full effect

JMU on the road > App on the road > Texas A&M at home.

It is there for the taking.

Got to be honest… it’s been exciting to see them earn the exposure over the past couple of weeks. Glad we’re playing them on Saturday! LFG!!!

RE: JMU riding App State’s coattails to prominence
It's the most important game we've played since...MTSU. The season is all about the question marks. We'd beaten FBS and P5 teams in our FCS days, but no one knew what to expect against MTSU. Throw in a lot of new starters, and I think we were all surprised by the outcome.

It's clear that App is good, and that they can be very good. I still don't know how how good we are. We knew what to expect out of the CAA. I think every week for us in the Sun Belt this year is going to be a lot of wild speculation. I mean, I won't be surprised if there's a 20-point margin in either direction Saturday. If we beat App, we could be off to the races. If not, it could be a long fall.

Not so fast my friend.

If you don’t know what to expect from a Cig coached team you’ve not been paying attention over the past several years. I’m not predicting a win Saturday, but a “20-point margin”??? In either direction??? Seriously? Give me some of what you’re drinking.

Go Dukes!

Okay, okay, then a 30 point win by the Dukes. Look what has our margin been so far this season? Why doubt our team? 02-13-banana

I don't doubt Coach Cig. Just not counting those chickens yet.

Our margins are impressive but we've played two awful teams.

I mean, I'm purple and gold all the way, all day long and half a day on Sunday. It'll be a little sweeter if we keep our mouths shut and then act like we've been there before (because we have). I think the SBC is waiting for us to trip on our dicks, so why give them the chance?

Y'all do what you want! It's all good and all fun!

You're completely right. I'm loving this and getting super stoked for the game, but there's a bit of an echo chamber effect on this board. We've not played a single Sun Belt team... ever? (I haven't gone back and looked - I know we played App and Marshall way back, but have we ever played a team that was in the SBC at the time?) Anyway, MTSU was a pleasant shock, and I think we should be able to wind up the middle of the SBC when it's all over. But let's not start polishing the trophy just yet.
