Still bitter as hell what Georgia State was funded by the state vs the situation they put us in one year later amid soaring constructions costs. More than that, they wouldn't even let us delay the project by a year to help reduce costs OR perform our own fund raising to help expand the budget of this project.

It was a "Here. Do this with this money and nothing else. Right now."

Such a waste when it's already been mentioned internally that this new facility will not be our new long term basketball arena. Basically, a new academic building with lots of conference rooms and a basketball arena.

Definitely jealous of this arena.

Really, really nice arena. Y'all deserve it and hope it's packed to the brim. Congratulations.

To be fair though we've played in the shittiest arena in the state for 50 years

Sounds like what the JMU grad politician did to ODU. Here JMU, we'll grandfather in your basketball arena, but sorry ODU, your football stadium will have to be built under the new far more stringent rules.

Yeah, but what comes around goes around, as now he's shafted JMU too as a result, most likely because he figured they'd never go FBS. Politicians....

Ga state should be proud. That's an amazing facility.

Take a look at GS's new digs coming one year later.

Naming it after a politician who recently passed who supported GS apparently in the wrong party. He was a great fella by the way.

Pretty embarrassing:

That looks suspiciously similar to the same layout used for most new high school gyms built in the last 20 years in Georgia

The only rendering of the inside of the arena that I'm aware of. And yes it's a little distracting and poor taste IMO. Who wears overalls to a basketball game or graduation or whatever? Certainly not much fanfare or hype surrounding the structure. This may be the only time you'll ever see an image of it unless you visit in person. Sorry to rain on our in state peer celebration but it seems appropriate while they revel in their lavish new digs.

The new GSU arena looks great, but sorry ODU fans, you’re BB palace is now 3rd on the list of best arenas in the league. 04-cheers
