Another former AAC coach bites the dust. I'd think he'd be a great hire for an AAC team or sunbelt.

I dunno. At this point he may have just caught lightning in a bottle that one year at ucf. Never even going .500 and losing to Georgia Southern in your fifth year is pretty piss poor. Nebraska is probably never gonna be like it was in the 90s again but it doesn’t seem like this was a case of too high of expectations

Nebraska owes Frost $7,500,000 if he is fired after October 1, 2022. $15,000,000 if he is fired before - I assume they negotiated it down to $7,500,000 or close. Surely Nebraska did not to fire him so bad that they were willing to pay $2,500,000 per week for the pleasure of firing him after that loss

He rebuilt the program… a program that’s been on a downward trajectory since he’s been gone.

Nebraska is a difficult job.

Yeah, I'm assuming Frost was willing to negotiate on the buyout. I saw a clip of him talking after the game last night - he sounded like a guy that was ready for it all to be over.

"By firing Frost on Sept. 11, the Huskers are now required to pay him a hefty $15 million buyout. That sum would have been cut by 50% had Nebraska waited to fire Frost until Oct. 1. However, athletic director Trev Alberts opted to foot the bill ahead of the program's marquee showdown against Oklahoma next weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska".

Yep. Nebraska relied heavily on Texas in the past. They don't have that luxury now. They sacrificed tradition and rivalries of the Big 12 for money. Scott did rebuild the UCF after the winless season so he definitely will be a steal. If I were Florida International or Florida Atlantic I'd be calling if I needed a coach.

Nebraska has to be in the Big12 to be relevant.
In the B1G, they can compete for bowl games, but as far as competing for titles....never gonna happen unless Nick Saban decides he wants a new challenge.

Yea it’s not what it was. They are however in the **** side of the big 10 and by year 5 you have all of your guys in. Should be good enough to not still be losing to Georgia southern or at least make a bowl game at some point. I wouldn’t expect him to be competing for big 10 championships except on a very rare occasion but I would expect more in Year 4 and 5 than he has shown.

I've never understood firing a coach this early even if they are struggling. In the old days you stuck it out until the off season and sometimes those early season struggles pulled a team together.

I'm not talking specifically about Frost but just in general. Firing a guy 2 games in?

Why even bring a guy back when you can him after just 2 games? Whoever finishes out the season likely won't be the coach or be there the next season at all.

If the hook was gonna be this quick you should have never brought him back.

No one expected them to start 0-2 in games they were highly favored to win.
Am surprised they didn't wait until October. Betting there is a settlement - regardless of what the media is reporting.

apparently there is A LOT of dissention on the team and it is aimed at Frost. they obviously thought it would get a lot worse if he sticks around
