Found this on the Toledo board. Not sure how they do the accounting, so this may be subjective.

Not surprising that we fit into the 211 money losing athletic programs coming in at #106. But, a bit surprised that we lose less than all of the other MAC teams.

With all of the big P5 contracts, I find it interesting that most are still losing money.

Other notables: Florida State #225, Rutgers at #224, Buffalo #215, Arizona State #212, UCLA #196, Toledo, #181, Michigan State #170, Illinois #52.

NIU is doing a good job in football with the deck stacked against them pretty well financially with a much smaller athletic budget, including NIU's very high level of debt and the cost of carrying that debt, along with NIU's overall relatively small endowment which means less contribution to the school each year compared to its peers. Student fees are also a big part of athletics and NIU has one of, if not, the smallest enrollment in the MAC. None of that has stopped NIU football, so kudos for that!

St. Pete, you should not come on to another teams board and tell them they have relatively small endowments.

The NIU foundation has a small endowment, how about that?
They have small endowments also? Sheesh! It must be the Kishwaukee River water.

Now that's real stand up comedy.
