Second half of this, starting about minute 20, lays out his plan for going to the moon. Aired on Disneyland in 1955. This is the approach that JFK basically rejected in his, "Why does Rice play Texas?" speech. JFK's end of decade time frame did not allow the time to construct the space station. The two-step space station approach would have gotten us to the moon by 1975.

After 1945, the US offered clemency/safe harbor, etc. to many of the German scientists whose work benefited the Nazi regime in one way or the other. I am thankful we got them, and believe that offering them legal protection in exchange for their work was the right thing to do. The Cold War was a war for survival, and we believed they could help us. And looking back on it now, I think they did help us. At the same time, I can well understand why some Americans feel differently. A painful subject, like many others.
