Liz Truss, after a distant 3rd in first round slowly moved her way up until narrowly finishing 2nd in the next to last round in the race for the Tory PM to replace Boris Johnson. Then she won 57% of the vote vs. Sunak. Sunak and Mordant (who got knocked out in the next to last round) were more moderate members of the party.

RE: Liz Truss new PM
It'll be interesting to see how she does, she is very fortunate to have until 2025 before a general election is required. She lost the parliamentary vote to Rishi Sunak and he ended up performing better than expected in the vote among Conservative party members that gave her the job, I read that he won most of the late-deciders as her campaign didn't wear well but most of the votes were sent in early. At this point I'd guess she will be much like Boris Johnson only without the buffoonish charisma that made him such an effective campaigner, and Labor is well-poised to return to government at the next general election having replaced crazy Jeremy Corbyn with the more moderate and far more prime ministerial Keir Starmer.
