Conference realignment moves this season
With USC and UCLA announcing their departure from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten in the off season, and all the chatter about Oregon and Washington potentially coming with them, how crazy will conference realignment be this season for the FBS/FCS? Will it be as crazy as it was last season, or will nothing happen at all?

Unfortunately I don't think you will see any other major moves this decade unless the PAC teams leave. I think the Big Ten will be conservative and wait until 2030s before looking at PAC and ACC when it becomes available. G5s/FCS will continue to tinker with membership in an effort to prove to someone that they are worthy of P5 inclusion. Delusional as that effort truly is.

To disagree with Scoochpooch1, I think there is a 50:50 chance that we will see two PAC-10 schools announce that they are coming to the Big Ten the year after USC/UCLA does.

However, there is no reason for the Big Ten to announce it during the Football season, so even if it happens, we might expect that announcement sometime after the Big Ten CCG ... maybe between the NCG and March Madness.

Once we find out for sure whether the Big Ten will expand, and if they do expand, who punches their Golden Ticket, then the balance of the big realignment news will be the aftershocks of that move. If they do not, then there may be very little realignment news except possibly a couple of movements among Go5 schools.

RE: Conference realignment moves this season
I'm not sure what will happen between the B1G and certain NW4 schools, but I do feel like the discussion about bumping CFP to 12 teams could dampen enthusiasm for any of the 4C to jump to the nbig12. And also dampen any enthusiasm the PAC has to add anybody, even SDSU. The playoff money could potentially be more for the Pac than their network deal and with only 10 teams to spread it amongst it could very well end up being the perfect cure for what ails the Pac; an antidote for wandering eyes, at least towards the nbig 12.

With the expanded playoffs? Grabbing Oklahoma, USU, UCLA and Texas out of the two conferences woke everybody else up to vote for the expanded playoffs. I don't see anymore moves except for backfielding PAC 12, MWC and CUSA and maybe AAC.

RE: Conference realignment moves this season
I only see PAC 12 and Big 12 moving up to 14 at least. To keep par with the ACC. I don't think the top P5 conferences are worried about their champion getting in the playoffs but a second team at least in the playoffs as a at large now. 14 schools at least offers some teams having 1 loss compared to 9 games with a 10 team league. While divisions might be things of the past 14 allows better scheduling options for football and regional scheduling for other sports.

I see just upgrading FCS schools when needed and available. I see C-USA and MWC going back to 12 assuming PAC 12 goes to 14 with MWC schools.
