Question Iowa Games With Terrible Scores
Here is some “highlights” from their infamous 6-4 win over Penn State in 2004. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to find film of the whole game.

I haven’t been able to find any film of their 5-3 loss to Arizona in 1980.

And if they didn't get a *2nd* safety today, they would've had college football's first 5-3 game since 1980...which was also another Iowa game.

Yeah, I created this thread literally about 10 seconds before Iowa's second safety made it 7-3.

I had heard of their 6-4 win over PSU before, but I had never heard of their 5-3 loss to Arizona until today.

The unfortunate thing about the second safety is that people looking at the score in future years will think the score was a touchdown to a field goal. They won't realize how bad the game actually was.

4-3 would have been much more fun.

RE: Iowa Games With Terrible Scores
These awful games are fun to talk about years later, but that Iowa game today was one of the hardest games I have ever tried to watch on tv. Not only did neither team have any offense all game long, but SDSU players had legimate injuries throughout the game that kept stopping the clock.

The entire 2nd half consisted of Iowa getting the ball at midfield, then not being able to move the ball at all. Then Iowa's all-american punter kept pinning SDSU inside the 10, which is why Iowa kept getting chances to score safeties. All you could do was laugh when the Iowa defense got its 2nd safety.

RE: Iowa Games With Terrible Scores
It kind of reminds me of Iowa's 14-13 over Michigan in 2016. But of course Iowa's 14 points consisted of a safety, a TD and 2 FG's

Mich was leading 10-0 early and then an Iowa Safety turned the momentum, still Mich led 13-11 late in the game before Iowa hit a last second FG to win 14-13. Those who saw the final score probably had no idea what an odd game it was.

In a NCAA-themed Monopoly game, if you owned University of Iowa (Yellow Property on the third side) you could turn in two safeties and a field goal for a touchdown.

The phantom facemask on PR provided all the momentum.

Yes, that made the last game-winning drive a lot easier for Iowa.
