EIU's QB looked pretty good, and their RBs too.

The EIU QB and #3 (RB) were game changers. I’m very interested to see how the Panthers finish the season. I’ll be rooting for them from now on. My guess is they’re a top 20 FCS squad and we may feel different about this game come years end. We should know that a bad night for an FBS team and a good night for an FCS team is a level Playing field.

They are incredibly explosive at RB for a team that was awful last year. That QB plays with a lot of awareness and swagger. Really interested to see how they end up this year. That coach is doing a heck of a job for a first year guy so far.

I loved their play calling. They schemed players open and stressed the defense all over the field. We did none of those things. Hammock wants to slam his head in to a wall until something gives. It creates close games because he will not change. Just the facts of being a huskie fan.

If these coaches were better, they'd be somewhere else. I'm sure there's a reason for a limited playbook. Maybe the boys aren't executing well enough in practice, to where it would make sense to run other concepts yet.

Say what you want about Hot Rod and Uremovich. I think we only had like 10 plays, lol. But we were solid at running those 10. Ie play action tight end crosser to Wimann that ALWAYS netted a TD.

These guys will get better as the year progresses. Hopefully Eidsness opens up that DAMN playbook and let's Rocky air it out. I remain more worried about that defense. So out of place and so fundamentally bad.

I read in the Chronicle that Hammock told his players that everything is perfect. He said something to the effect that if opponents think the Huskies are bad, that’s a perfect situation. So, all this seems to be orchestrated. He wants to hide how good the Huskies are from opponents. For what, to catch them napping? So, my question is….When will he open up the playbook? The last game against Akron? Unless we are overmatched, I’m afraid we’ll see another season of nail-biters.

NIU isn’t Muhammad Ali where we can lean back and rope-a-dope to lull our opponents into a false sense of security. That philosophy actually is the opposite of Hammocks “line up and run you over” mentality. I kinda feel like Hammock is sugar coating this game. I’d Rather hear - we were bad and need to practice extra hard this week. Unacceptable performance and we will get better. That underdog card only gets played so many hands.

This isn’t wrong. Also the defense has to have him worries. What do you do? Fire the whole staff? The defense is failing in hilarious fashion. It is not a d1 college scheme.

Did Devin Lafayette play at all? Didn’t see #3 out there amongst the safeties.

It was hard to tell since there were no names in the back of the jerseys.

The only #3 I recall was Mason Blakemore. But I know sometimes they double up numbers.

Maybe the media relations people could put together a game program that would include numerical rosters for NIU and the opponent. Perhaps they could even sell them for a reasonable price and make a little extra by selling advertising space to businesses.

We gotta open up the offense when they load the box. That’s the key to our season… Of course the defense has to get a whole lot better too…

A good idea, revived. I used to have game programs from way back, and that's exactly what they did. Sold them to us at the stadium if we wanted them. Not rocket science.

Another great idea is if people get hungry or thirsty watching the game they could have something to eat or drink. I'm thinking they can sell hot dogs and bottle water.

And the best thing about this idea is that people get hungry and thirsty throughout the game, they could have these items available for all 4 quarters.

Do they really no longer sell programs at the games? If they stopped doing this, it is the height of stupidity. The first thing my group has always done is buy programs and read them throughout the game and after. I can’t believe it, but from NIU I guess I should believe anything.

You are asking for too much! Remember….NIU has no money and can’t afford to serve concessions.

I was surprised last year at why coach gave carries to Blakemore. Yesterday he showed me why. The kid looked really good. Waylee looked better (stronger)-- that's nice. I though Brown didn't have a great night running the ball-- but still pretty good.

I am NOT sure how any of our backs did on the blocking side (including the full back). I suspect they weren't that great. Also, if we have a "full back" in hte game and then line him up in a split backfield-- then he is NOT really a fullback. It's just to half backs. And the if you hand off to one running left while the "full" halfback runs right... ??? What's the point?

I would love to have seen some I formation!

Boy Ratdog and Rudolph are SOOOOO missed.

Since concessions are a complete clusterf*** at NIU, why don’t they completely outsource the whole concessions operation? From preparing the food to hiring people who know how to serve food and make change, let a vendor who knows what the hell they’re doing and wants to make money handle everything.

Didn't they outsource concessions to Sodexo? Or am I mistaken?

Not sure of the concessions in the stadium, but the concessions in the Skybox, HAF tent, and Coaches Club I believe are handled by Sodexo. If Sodexo does the concessions in the stadium (and Convo Center), their contact should be terminated. Their food is not the best, anyway.

The best food I’ve tasted was when Lukulos handled the food in the HAF tent. Absolutely outstanding. But, after 1 or 2 years, they were gone.

Only NIU Administration would farm out part of a food contract. If you are thin on employees, farm out the whole Athletic Food service so you can have more people concentrated on fundraising and operations.
