Louisville’s Head Coach Scott Satterfield was the Quarterbacks Coach on Jerry Moore’s Appalachian State that season.

It was a great game and ending on its own merits, then you add in the David vs. Goliath angle and it goes off the charts. It sounds clichè because it gets overused but it was truly one of the greatest games ever.

2007 was a crazy, wacky year in CFB. Maybe the craziest and wackiest, and this game kicked all the madness off.

Yep. Almost all the top teams had unforgivable losses.

#1 LSU lost to two teams that ended the season unranked (8-5 UK and 8-5 Arkansas).
#2 Georgia lost to 6-6 South Carolina at home
#3 USC lost to 4-8 Stanford
#5 Missouri lost two games to Oklahoma
#6 WVU lost to 5-7 Pitt
#8 Oklahoma lost to 6-7 Colorado

The only 1-loss teams heading into bowl season were Ohio State and Kansas(!), but despite the Big 12's depth, Kansas only played 1 Big 12 team with a winning record (Missouri) and it lost that game. So Kansas was left out of the BCS Championship game.

I certainly wouldn't try to make the case KU deserved to be considered for the BCS title game, but Kansas won on the road at Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, both with winning records. You'll soon learn what it is like to play on the road in the XII, but in the mean time, don't let the facts ruin a good story, amirite? KU also won at Colorado, where OU lost and proved they belonged in the Orange Bowl with a win over VaTech.
