RE: McMurphy: Washington latest Pac-12 school in talks with Big Ten

The reports are implying that these schools are reaching out to the Big Ten, not the other way around.
It could also just be McMurphy trying to drum up business for action network. I would never have heard of that site had I not followed him on Twitter.
As far as getting the Late Night time slot...does the B1G really want that? I'm not staying up until 1am local time to watch my Huskers play. I think that will hurt the B1G's overall TV ratings and that could hurt their next TV deal.
The Big Ten wants it. The late game is West Coast primetime and can get solid TV ratings. The Big Ten is adding the largest West Coast market in Los Angeles. With Oregon, Washington, and Stanford, they would absolutely checkmate the West Coast with the minimum number of moves.
Also, I still believe the Big Ten wants to completely own the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl will already be in Big Ten territory once USC and UCLA join. And, I note that the PAC teams with the most all-time Rose Bowl appearances and 14 of the last 15 for the PAC 12's bids are: USC, Washington, UCLA, Stanford, and Oregon. (Cal is #6).

I feel like these are the worst kept secret. You are not doing your job as a school if you are not having these conversations
