Thanks for the memories
Been sitting on this for a couple months but didn't want to put it out there until confirmed by other sources.

But looks like the worst case scenario is coming true.

While no official word yet several sources are reporting that I-30 speedway has been sold and will be closing it's doors at the end of the season.

I lived in Otter Creek just outside Little Rock for 2 years in the 90's. I could hear them running on Friday/Saturday night. Never went but they always seemed to have good crowds.

Fill us in on the drama that shut down Friendship Motor Speedway.

The rezoning application was posted online. Usually the final step before a sale.

All the above.

Owners rather shutdown and walk away rather than make the hard decisions.

Should have come down with suspensions for fans and drivers that missed behaved.

Rooted out the main causes of trouble.

I read the FB post put out by someone who claimed to be associated with the track.

While I could feel their frustration caused by a few bad apples.

The post was one of the most unprofessional and I'll tempered I have ever seen from management.

Respect has to go both ways and by the post it's clear neither side had any.

They talked about sneaking in or bringing in outside food.

Arm bands one for grandstands and another for pits, would stop sneaking it.

If you're found without arm band then out you go

Put sign at gate all bags will be inspected upon entering.

If they have outside food they can take it back to car or toss it in trash.

Main thing is in front of drivers, crews, and fans management must have the back of the track officials.

If it turns out official made wrong call that can be addressed in private later

Then clarification of rules prior to start of next night of racing.

I personally would have no problem with having troublemaker perp walked in front of every either to the gate or police car.

Bringing in outside food was a cause in the track shutting down?

Concessions are a major part of a track's profit margin. So outside food takes a bite out of the bottom line.

I can understand both sides of the argument. If you have two or three kids. Then $2 for a box of popcorn, or a hotdog or a can drink times three can add up quick.

Not to mention $3.50 a can for a beer.

I can understand why tracks don't want outside food coming it, just wish they would consider family budgets when setting prices.

Sadly at another track in SC a track security officer was shot and killed by a POS who tried to get in without a wristband.

$3.50 for beer is a steal. It's $8-9 at the Liberty stadium.
