The spread is current SMU -10.5

The Mean Green have a win in the books over UTEP at El Paso, but SMU has been spending some serious money on the recruiting trail and at the Portal-Mart. This could be an interesting game.

Mad that I can't get up to Denton for this one. Hopefully the lads can channel some momentum from the UTEP game and pull this out.

If I were a betting man. I would take UNT and the points. I think having a game under their belt is a big help.

I want to pick UNT, but Mordecai is back for SMU and their starters on the O-line are all 6'5" or taller and over 300 pounds. They have spent their money well in the off-season, and there will be no success with only a 3 man rush this weekend. Hopefully, I am completely wrong.

Maybe Phil Bennett will come up with some crazy defensive schemes. One can hope.

I think the Safeway Bowl moniker needs to go. It makes it sound like a bargain bin special. If this is to become a meaningful rivalry game, it needs a better name.

"The Metroplex Melee" has a nice ring to it.

The line has moved a little. SMU is now a 9.5 point favorite.

We are the kings of self-destruction. Good to see that hasn't changed. Our one area of consistency.

SMU is just a better team. They have bought some great players. Lashlee had a stellar debut as a first-time head coach, while Littrell, the longest serving current FBS head coach in Texas, showed the fan base why he shouldn't be in Denton. Littrell never should have been brought back for this season, and everyone that's actually been paying attention and combing through the data knows it. It was depressing watching the athletic department roll out and celebrate the various conference championship teams we had last season, while watching Littrell's football team stink up the joint. UNT will be a bottom feeder in the AAC if Littrell is still leading our program. I'll be watching our Texas Southern game on ESPN3 from my easy chair.

After last nights game and what I witnessed, I'm not so sure a UNT victory over TSU is a given.

I don't think the team is terrible. I think SMU is just really good. Now, Littrell is terrible. After 6 seasons under a coach making his salary, UNT shouldn't be getting blown out by any other G5 program. I feel UNT is a middle of the pack C-USA team this season, but that isn't good enough and the fans deserve better.
