There will be a shift, already starting to occur, where the Greens back nuclear power. Your Mustang will have to convert to some hydrogen fuel mixture as no oil products will be available.

Antique cars will get conversions, yes—to run on hydrogen or perhaps biofuels. Fossil fuels will be harder and much more expensive to come by, and by 2040 the permits to burn them will be moving toward a 'need' basis.

Maybe we'll get lucky and have Mr Fusion installed by then. 03-wink

Cuse' in the a Big 12 or 20 makes no sense. They are on the outside looking in. VaTech is more likely unless they get an SEC lifeline.

The SEC is not expanding to 20 without UNC. I just don't know what non-UNC pair would possibly interest them after FSU and Clemson. I expect at least two Carolina schools (with UNC) in the SEC. If they miss out on them, they could look at KU and OSU. Even UL in play. KU/UL are better BBall brands than NCSU alone.

RE: 2040
I’m probably way off the rails here, but I think the PAC survives, and we end up with two power elite conferences among the power conferences and a lower group of conferences. So basically three tiers of conferences.

My stab at 2040.

B1G: 20 schools
UCLA
USC
Oregon
Washington
Stanford
Notre Dame

SEC: 20 schools
Oklahoma
Texas
Florida State
Clemson
Miami
Virginia Tech

ACC: 14 schools
USF
UCONN

BigXII: 14 schools
Cincinnati
UCF
Memphis
BYU
ECU
Boise State
Colorado State

PAC12: 14 schools
SDSU
UNLV
SMU
Houston
Fresno State
Texas Tech

A lot could happen in 18 years.
