MSOC V USF Dons: Preview
Excited for the start of the men's regular season. We all know about some of the well documented graduations. However, Coach Swan has done a great job by bringing in some great new players.
The Huskies start the season with two matches out west: First up, USF Dons.
Overall, Huskies should not have too much of a challenge here.
- USF lost their top player (Nonso Adimabua) from last season who moved on to California. Was top Frosh in the WCC last season, took 30% of their shots, and lead the team with (5) goals.
- Team has not had a winning season in years.
Good article summarizes tomorrow's game plus vs St Mary's.

RE: MSOC V USF Dons: Preview
FYI, we just lost to a USF team that was 2-13-1 last season and ended their 2021 season on a six-game losing streak.

BRUTAL
I wonder how people reacted when they lost to the NIU football team last year?

NIU football is consistently good (17 winning seasons since 2000). Huskie D above mentioned USF soccer hasn't had a winning season in years.

Took a red in the second half, that’ll even the playing field quickly

RE: MSOC V USF Dons: Preview
I was surprised like everyone else by the result. They did come out strong in the second half and had some excellent chances.
Yes, the red card doesn't help but teams get red cards/play short but still win. Almost immediately after the red card, USF scored and then won it with about 2 minutes left in the game. Overall, USF did not look real impressive. While we had a solid second half, our first half was not the greatest.
In looking at the MSOC schedule, I felt that they could maybe/possibly/potentially go undefeated well into September based on the competition and match ups. Remember too that there is an impressive class of recruits plus many good players returning from last season. Hoping this is a one off and the team gets back up with solid play.
Here is the actual USF record over the past 6 years:
'21: 2-13-1
'20: 5-4-2
'19: 2-14-1
'18: 6-10-1
'17: 10-9
'16: 11-9
