Interesting timing right before football season starts and I'm sure the date doesn't align with his contract years so probably no money being saved.

It will probably cost BGSU $137,500, which is six months of his base salary. His contract was to run through June 2024.

The interim AD Stacy Kosciak "won't be available at this time," per the Blade.

Not a good look to let the head person in charge go, and then hide the replacement when questions need to answered.

I'm not seeing those words in the story, but regardless: I don't see a bad look here at all. I can understand why BGSU would want to let President Rogers' statement stand on its own today. The statement is fairly clear.

Ms. Kosciak is an interim AD, a caretaker, and she might not be experienced dealing with the media. If there are questions to be answered, they should go to the president's office. He made the decision.

My bad. I pulled that quote from the Blade BG beat writers’ Twitter page. Patrick Andres.

Is this the guy who hired Mike Jinks from a Google search? If so it's been a long time coming.

Certainly highly unusual timing, given basically a week before the football season starts……..you would think this should have been done at the end of the last academic year (unless some unknown factor only recently came to light).

Moosbrugger was hired months after the previous AD, Chris Kingston, hired Mike Jinks. (That was one hell of a parting gift, let me tell you. BGSU is still cleaning up that mess.)

It's been an open secret all summer that Moosbrugger was looking for an off ramp. My hunch is that he had a gentlemen's agreement with the university president to find something new before the next academic year. Moosbrugger didn't find something to his liking, so BGSU's president decided to make the change.

My hunch is he was already on thin ice having been nakedly looking to leave, was allowed to stay out his contract with some level of commitment, but got caught fishing on LinkedIn and Prez was like, “just go now.” Dawn of football season matters less for replacing an AD than a football staffer.

The Blade is reporting that Rogers and Moosbrugger had a gentlemen's agreement that Moose would get some time to find another job. Moose apparently never found something he really liked, and BGSU decided to make a move.

I think the statement was pretty clear as to why. Moosbrugger was a super nice guy who loved BGSU and did things the right way. But the athletic department faced a "need to increase and diversify resources."

I'm bummed to see an alum's tenure as AD end this way. But it is a business.

Here is the list of people I was given by a BG source:

Haven Fields, Deputy AD, Ball State
Scott Garrett, AD, Cleveland State
Anton Goff, Senior Associate AD, NIU
Carey Hoyt, Senior Associate AD, Ohio State
Tom Moreland, Senior Associate AD, Purdue
Mark Shook, VP of Intercollegiate Athletics, Kentucky Wesleyan
Jermaine Truax, AD, Bucknell
Steve Watson, AD, Loyola-Chicago

Several have BGSU connections (Goff, Truax, Shook, Watson).

I'm quite sure Haven Fields will be a leading candidate for the now vacant Ball State job.

Maybe, but President Mearns brought in an outside interim AD, which leads me to think that they'll look at an outside hire for the new AD as well

Yes, I saw that and agree that could be the case.
