RE: Bret McMurphy on Oregon and more
When the PAC dissolves with California, Stanford, Oregon and Washington go to the BIG, the remaining 6 schools will go to the nBig 12. others will also be invited.

East: Central Florida, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Memphis, West Virginia

Central: Baylor, Houston, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech

West: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State

North West: Boise State, BYU, Oregon State, Utah, Washington State

If the nBig goes to 24, then USF will be added to the East; Oklahoma State will be moved to the Central; Air Force and Colorado State will be added to the West, and San Diego State will be added to North West/Pacific.

this may be a little ambitious - i think the B12, if they can / do get the 4 PAC schools, keeps some spots available for ACC schools.

That could make some sense. Then you have an A4 rather than an A5. So the ACC, B12, B10, and SEC all get stronger.

Memphis SMU BSU WSU and OSU reduce the quality. I chose quality over quantity. Where is OKS?

Brett McMurphy said yesterday that he thought the nBig 12 would add all 6 PAC schools. By doing this and dissolving the PAC means only 4 Power Conferences with how many members each? 24 maybe. The nBig 12 picks up their remainder then there are 3 Power Conference and no conference below will be able to touch the nBig12 and they will remain relevant in football and a major power in basketball and at least #2 in baseball.

RE: Bret McMurphy on Oregon and more
the idea of adding all these teams is just stupid

1. conferences and their media partners are picking the winners.....you do not get better to compete with them by picking up their trash

2. the Big 12 is not going to get anything left over from the PAC 12 if the PAC 12 folds period

3. you are just placing more teams in your conference to compete for auto bids to NCAA tournaments ect

4. you are just placing more teams in your conference to divide up other money like the Football Playoff money or the New Years major bowl money (right now The Sugar Bowl)......more teams in the conference does not contribute to adding to that money it just waste it on more teams

5. things are not going to end here.....this is a long term situation even if things that happen in the short term matter.....this is not the time to be out there rowing around in a life boat picking up every program left for dead that was a leftover and an after thought in your conference

this is the time to let those turds float or sink on their own.....Colorado, Cal, Oregon State, WSU.....no offense....BYE!

6. some of you must be David State sock puppets there is not a P5 team or several G5 teams you ate not trying desperately to add to the Big 12 all while two other conferences are busy adding the best programs they can that are ADDITIVE to their conference and conference payout

members of this forum look to just want to add teams to the Big 12 that add teams for no good reason other than "hey more teams" or "hey we have 18 to 30 teams just like they do" which means you just have more teams splitting up less money unlike the others that are taking the teams that BRING MONEY not teams that bring small budgets, few fans, annual budget deficits, high academic side subsidies, and a bite OUT OF the conference payout

some of you act like the Big 12 is running from a rabid bear or tiger and you hope that because you added a bunch of dead weight to the Big 12 that when it comes time to get killed and eaten in the future you will be left standing and not get killed and eaten.....when in reality the dead weight you are wanting to add to the Big 12 just means that the bus will break down trying to drive away from a pack of jackals and everyone will get eaten or almost everyone but one or two

leave the dead meat to the jackals now and let them get eaten and move on from them

Adding a few teams west would allow inventory for late night broadcast.

I’m in agreement with Todge here. I’d much rather take ACC leftovers after the B10/SEC carves them up than Oregon State and Washington State. The valuations and ratings come out on Colorado confirms what I have thought for a while, it’s an NFL market; nobody is watching Colorado and Colorado State (a team many of you have been asking for for many years now).

RE: Bret McMurphy on Oregon and more
1. We are not in the position to compete against the B1G or the SEC for any teams. Thus all available teams to us are flawed.

2. Of the remaining 6 pac teams I would rate Arizona as best (interested, market, basketball but not football). Arizona state decent in football but do we need a second Arizona team? Utah is similar, a second Utah team. Both asu and UU don’t seem as interested as Arizona or even Colorado. Colorado isn’t football or basketball competitive but is it’s own market. Neither wsu nor OSU add much in market or competitive athletic. But if we take all c4 there might be strategic benefit to taking 6 to finish off the pac and taking everything from them. But strategic benefits don’t necessarily mean financial benefits.

2. In terms of broadcast time there are 4 time slots. The B1G and the SEC will dominate the first three. We can and should compete in the first 3 but could dominate the fourth. I understand the 4th time slot isn’t as profitable but wouldn’t dominating it be better than not? If yes than we need at least 2-3 teams west and weaken our main competitor for that slot: the pac. If the B1G take four more pac teams then they will likely have the edge over us but better we compete than not compete for that slot.

3. SDSU interesting as they are committed to athletic (more than Colorado?) and competitive in both football and basketball as well as in a decent market. Strategically taking them would deprive the pac of a presence in Southern California.

4. I am curious as to what ACC program can we take in 12 years? Not UNC, FSU, or Clemson. Miami, VT, and NCS seems unlikely. So Georgia Tech? Louisville?

1, Agree on taking 6 only if we at least break even on $$. If you don't lose $$ and reduce competition, it may make sense.

2. We will play 3rd fiddle in all slots, but 3rd still gets you a medal.

3. SDSU is interesting because of location and the work they are doing.

4. G Tech, Louisville, both have decent value, as would Va. All would help travel in the east. But all that is likely 5+ years down the road.

SDSU is an unorthodox option for the Big 12, but that shouldn't eliminate them from consideration.

Big 12 should focus on ex-Big East teams here (Pitt, Lousiville, Syracuse, Miami, VT, BC). Left over traditional ACC teams like Wake Forest, GT, NC State should be evaluated but no prioritized. GT would be my #1 pick for a left over traditional ACC team.

Here is the problem with that scenario, if there are 7 or 8 ACC schools remaining once the B1G and SEC get dibs on their choices that will not kill the ACC. The remaining members could simply just add schools from the AAC to remain solvent and actually still decent. I'm sure SMU, USF, Navy, Memphis, UAB and a few others could be very attractive to remaining ACC members 12 yrs or so years from now. And who is to say West Virginia, UCF, or Cincinnati wouldn't object to being in a more friendly geographical ACC making potentially the same amount of money they would get in the Big 12?

Of course it would depend on the money the ACC could get with those programs. If the Big 12 could see a significant increase in TV revenue by adding the remaining ACC schools that would be more than the ACC simply adding teams then of course that would change things.

some of you act like the Big 12 is running from a rabid bear or tiger and you hope that because you added a bunch of dead weight to the Big 12 that when it comes time to get killed and eaten in the future you will be left standing and not get killed and eaten.....when in reality the dead weight you are wanting to add to the Big 12 just means that the bus will break down trying to drive away from a pack of jackals and everyone will get eaten or almost everyone but one or two

leave the dead meat to the jackals now and let them get eaten and move on from them

The nBig 12 can do what it has previously and stay where they are at or try to stay relevant and improve their viewership and marketability and increase their footprint.

Creating a strong western presence and at the same time take out a Power 5 conference should make them stronger. I believe in doing this, it will make them stronger than the ACC and keep them at the table. With the strength of the teams, there may be more at-large bids as there will be fewer autobids.

In men and women's basketball, softball and baseball, the nBig 12 will go toe to toe with the SEC and the BIG. In football, you'll see the nBig 12 in many of the marque bowl games and CFP games. Under nBig 12 leadership, the western division can flourish as the rest of the conference gets stronger. Many of the teams are in growing markets.

East: Central Florida, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Memphis and West Virginia

Central: Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Texas Tech

West: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State

Pacific: BYU, Oregon State, San Diego State, Utah, Washington State

This lineup leaves the nBig12 in good position once the ACC crumbles.

Other teams on the radar in a few years would be Boise State, UNLV, South Florida, Miami, SMU, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, NCState, Virginia Tech and perhaps others. I see three powers going forward. The P2 and the nBig 12 who will be in striking distance.

1. conferences and their media partners are picking the winners.....you do not get better to compete with them by picking up their trash

2. the Big 12 is not going to get anything left over from the PAC 12 if the PAC 12 folds period

3. you are just placing more teams in your conference to compete for auto bids to NCAA tournaments ect

4. you are just placing more teams in your conference to divide up other money like the Football Playoff money or the New Years major bowl money (right now The Sugar Bowl)......more teams in the conference does not contribute to adding to that money it just waste it on more teams

5. things are not going to end here.....this is a long term situation even if things that happen in the short term matter.....this is not the time to be out there rowing around in a life boat picking up every program left for dead that was a leftover and an after thought in your conference

this is the time to let those turds float or sink on their own.....Colorado, Cal, Oregon State, WSU.....no offense....BYE!

OR State and WA State, yuk. SMU and BSU are better choices.

RE: Bret McMurphy on Oregon and more
if the Big 12 has BYU, Utah, AU and ASU that is all the "western slots" that are needed

there are not 5 billion sports channels there are 2 for ESPN plus U and News and the conference networks and they only show games on 4 of those plus ABC sometimes

Fox has Fox, and FS1 and FS2 (with terrible carriage)

CBS has 2

NBC has 1

the Big 12 is not going to be partnered with all of them and probably not with both of Fox and ESPN.......and there is no chance in hell that "western time games" adds remotely enough money to a contract to make it worth it to start adding stupid teams and stupid numbers of teams to try and have that highly underviewed time slot

get real if any member of the Big 12 wants to throw lifelines to every struggling and every DGAF program out there then good luck in the future watching the conference fall apart or sink to a terrible place

the time is NOW to start moving to be better than the ACC or PAC 12 not sitting around trying to figure out how to add their garbage or more G5 teams

RE: Bret McMurphy on Oregon and more
I agree that four western teams should be good. On any week that gives a choice of 2 teams hosting. So byu plus 3 more.

I don’t think we need to kill off the pac but we should disable it (well actually the B1G will disable it). We would likely weaken ourselves in the effort to do so.
