I know Mike Walker won't be back...torn ACL, but sounded like they didn't know yet on Glenroy Wadkins knee. Brandon Marshall was wearing a protective boot for his foot/ankle, but it sounded like he would be fine for the CUSA Championship Game.
We were very lucky all season in regards to injuries...sucks that Rice's prehistoric astro turf cost us big time!!

Hate to hear that anyone had an injury that would cost them a game, much less an ACL. Unfortunately, history tells me that until the warranty runs out on the rug at Rice, that rug will remain in place. As someone who lost 4 ligaments and all the cartilage in a knee to the rug that was at Rice in 1981 while running sprints at the end of spring training practices, I have been even more of an avid get rid of all rugs and get back to grass advocate than I was just from having turf burns all the time. I have not played on the new artificial stuff, but I just can't believe it is any better than nature's grass. Only time that we had a chance to get to that was when the MLS was talking with Rice about bringing an MLS team to Houston and playing at Rice. Rice told them they would get free rent on the stadium for those games if they would put in a grass field. MLS ultimately bailed out on that, but hopefully we will resurrect that possibility with the San Jose Earthquake looking to move. Somehow, I suspect that UH, with grass in place and a smaller stadium, has the inside track there. Now if we can get one of the Mexican league teams, they need to bigger stadium and would probably be willing to spend a few dollars to get a grass field!
Regardless, good luck to all your players with injuries and best wishes in the post-season play!

Rice doesn't even have to go to grass. Field Turf is excellent. UCF's indoor practice facility has Field Turf. NFL teams and schools like Michigan also have Field Turf. It's safe and Rice won't have to spend more money on maintenance than they do now. And they can get rid of that crown on the field that's only needed for astroturf.
