Just got tickets today. I'll be there +3. Let's get this game sold out. Gotta show that 25k seats isn't enough

Most of whats left is Section 7 (returned visitor tickets from MTSU? ) and the upper deck corner (412-415).
Everything else is just a few scattered singles. Not sure if that's 2k seats or not, but it will absolutely feel like a sold out game even if it doesn't hit that mark officially. And I do think a lot of whats left will be sold by gameday.
Jusy posted on another thread, but there will also be GA tickets and this includes 401 and 402 which is a good size block of tickets available.

Interesting ... I get the impression some blocks of seats are being held back (returned visitor and GA) until closer to game days. They might not want 100% sold out months in advance. Wonder if some GA will open up for other games also.

I don’t think they open up 401-402 until most of 413-415 are sold. Likely ~3-4k left for MTSU. Hopefully there will be a lot of game week sales. It’ll be interesting to see what the student demand is like. They can reserve their tickets starting today.

Gotta imagine that student interest would be huge. It's a historic day with a lot of firsts.
I think the students will fill their seats pretty damn quick.
Wouldn't be surprised if some students actually bought tickets if they couldn't get in.
I might be giving them too much credit, but the FBS label should make the demand higher than ever for them.

RE: Season Tickets
Considering the lowest attendance last year was no less than 21K until the Thanksgiving game, I would be highly disappointed with 23K or less. Given how much season tickets have increased, we should be sold out of student interest remains the same as years past. This is the first FBS game and students should be amped up compared to previous years. This will be the first football game for the freshman class. This isn’t a game against North Carolina University of Idaho College of Kansas State School anymore. This is big boy football and it’s going to be a competitive game. If we can draw 23K in a blow out for every home game historically, there’s no reason to not be close to a sell out every single game this year.

I'm not here to poo-poo your take, however I do wonder how the pulse of the student body relates to the FBS move. I would speculate that the average 18-21 year old really doesn't care. Student attendance at football was strong before but I wonder if demand will be significantly stronger this year. Students might stay longer given the improvement in opponent, but name-recognition probably only applies to Marshall... maybe Coastal. If I had to guess I think there will be complaining about student attendance on Monday morning for a long time.

You mean besides the students leaving after halftime to go party?
I'd think we would get a solid student turnout for the first game, FBS or not. Getting them to stay the whole game, hard to say. Probably need to raffle off a meal plan or two for that.

Agree with you, but Middle Tennessee State University still kind of sounds like the University of Central Colgate College of New Hampshire.

Yeah I'm curious to see how it goes. I'd bet a lot of them don't care and will still go(or won't go) for the same reasons as before, but there have also been quite a few times I've overheard students talking about how they heard JMU "might go D1" and things to that effect. So I wouldn't be surprised if some are really excited about us "going D1" this year.

Good idea to keep the raffles going. But things the kids like and use that range in the tens or hundreds of dollars like cool swag or AirPods would get their interest more than saving mom & dad thousand$ on a meal plan.

RE: Season Tickets
I'm not sold on any raffle getting or keeping a 18 - 22 year old. Girls are going to leave when they're not engaged or get bored and boys leave when the girls leave. So you have to find a way to keep the girls in the stadium. Maybe you have Kane Brown come and mingle, then perform for a short show afterwards.
One thing you don't do with this first game is stop handing out student tickets at 8k. They want one, they get one. Pack'em in like sardines.

RE: Season Tickets
I'd be willing to bet that not 10% of the students have ever heard of Middle Tennessee State University, or know their mascot or even what state they are from, and that's giving them the Tennessee part in their name! I'll get Jesse Waters to do an interview with students outside the gate and a tailgate and ask the questions. We would all be embarrassed at how little the students would know. Ask them who we fought in the Revolutionary War? Or, who fought in the Civil War? Ask them who won the Bachelorette and 90% will know!

Very true, BUT, with it being marketed as the first FBS home game, we should be able to overcome the name alone. In the next few years, we will be hosting more OOC FBS home games. Whether that is a 2 for 1 with a Power 5 or a home and home with a G5 school. Building home games with easily recognizable collegiate brands for the average fan is important.

None of them are going to know who Jesse Waters is. You're going to have to find someone else.

I think you are 100% correct about 401-402. that is about 1000 unsold. yep, probably 3k unsold.
my guess, we will get close, but wont sell out.
sure FBS, but Middle tenn sounds pretty FCS to me. when did they even move up?

2000 was their first season in FBS.

I agree.
Some of the previous comments about the name and name recognition of our first FBS opponent (and how it might impact student interest) seems a bit over-the-top. Worrywarts make it sound like unless JMU was hosting Ohio State or Alabama the students won’t clue in.
Once JMU’s regular play against fellow Eastern Division SBC teams settle there will be plenty of enthusiasm for the start of every FB season and all games at home, regardless name-brand identity.
