Help Identifying 80s WBB Players
Any of the old timers here have any insight into the players photographed on these pocket schedules from the Early 80s
#21 in 81-82 (for the 82-83 schedule) should be Mary Tonjes, but I don't have any other photos to confirm. No idea who the others are in that image, or in the 81-82 schedule image.
Anybody know?

RE: Help Identifying 80s WBB Players
Tried looking for a program on line - no luck. Someone gave me a bunch of Toledo programs they saw sitting bundled up next to the curb for trash pick up in Grosse Point, Mich. exactly 18 years ago - but none in that range of years. Some went back to '40's and '50's for football - all in near mint condition. No idea why they decided to throw them out - and how lucky somebody I knew at the time happened to walk by them and recognized them as something I might like to have.

Cool. Thanks for checking.
Yeah, WBB info from say ~ '93 and back is very hard to come by. I've been trying to slowly accumulate a complete set of stats, rosters, player info, etc. as far back as I can. I recently got a hold of media guides from 85-86 and 84-85 which helped fill in some pieces, but back farther than that I have only bits and pieces. I found these two schedules on Ebay.
If anyone has any WBB media guides, game programs, schedules, promotional materials, that you are willing to part with (or provide copies of) I'd be happy to take them off your hands, with compensation of course. Send me a PM.

Call sports information at UT. They have all of the old programs. Here's a little bit of help:
1981-82 starting lineup- Jenni Heisler, Mary Tonjes, Linda Janicki, Mitzi Hallinan and Cindy Donahue
1982-83: Heisler, Liz Meiring, Janicki, Hallinan and Donahue

Thanks, yes I have that info which is in the media guide.
Also know Janicki wore 31, Hallinan 11, and Meiring 41.

You can search the UT website for letter winners. Canady also has some old programs and tapes.
Archive.org is a rabbit hole but I couldn't find any women's basketball programs for Toledo. Found other stuff. At risk of you losing years of your life, click here.

Thanks east, that's a possibility. Have not been able to find a source that confirms her jersey number. She would have been a freshman in 80-81, so could be.
I've already accumulated a great deal of info, so I am familiar with what little there is on the UT website - some of which is not correct unfortunately. Some seasons when UT submitted their official season stats to the NCAA they did not list all players. Mix's year, they only sent stats for the 7 of the reported 15 players on the squad, for example. Media Guides are better, but even those have some egregious errors sometimes. But, half the fun is in the searching.

It's a sad state. I check duh'locals, only because I was able to find game dates on EMU, Miami and Ball St's websites. Can't find schedules on UT's. Checked next day and could not find an article. Found jr high girl's b-ball scores but not UToledo. Found a society page photo of socializing at a BG game, backed up a couple days and found an article for that game, but no boxscore or photos. Janiki was 31 (HOF) so that rules out one player.

Yeah, I've checked the Blah from the early 80s for UT WBB stories, and they are mostly non-existant, although they will have stories on the BG women's swim team in the same edition. Jeez.
One of these days, if I get my spreadsheets in some sort of presentable form, I will share them with anyone who might be interested.
