I love how they play highlights of UGa annihilating the Wolverines in the video associated with the article.

Is this deal for football only?

I've seen nothing about basketball

RE: ESPN (Rittenberg) article on Big Ten Media Rights being finalized
Rather than start a separate thread, here are excerpts from this morning’s article in The Athletic by Nicole Auerbach:

In addition to Fox, which had locked up Big Ten rights months ago, the conference is likely to partner with both CBS and NBC. Such deals, if finalized, could result in the following Saturday slate: a noon ET game on Fox, a 3:30 p.m. ET game on CBS and primetime on NBC. Multiple sources involved in the negotiations have reiterated over the past month that the Big Ten has prioritized those windows throughout the process. CBS is expected to pay the Big Ten $350 million per year in its new deal, a source confirmed to The Athletic. NBC is also expected to pay around $350 million per year, according to multiple reports. …

The Big Ten opted to add just two schools back in June. Now that the media deal is nearly done, could it look further into the possibility of a western wing? If the Big Ten really wanted to, it could look both to the Pacific Northwest and the Bay Area. That could give the conference inventory for the Saturday late-night TV window — a fourth window, for those keeping track at home — and also allow for easier travel opportunities for all sports for the L.A. schools. …

These potential [expansion] decisions did not need to be made and locked in before the Big Ten signs this deal. Multiple people involved in the process told The Athletic that they expect the league’s contracts to include triggers that would either allow for renegotiation in the event of conference membership addition or incrementally and automatically adjust the payouts in such an event.

Or this gratuitous sentence:

"Fox will remain the Big Ten's main media partner and had representatives attend negotiations with other potential partners during the past few months."

So the Big 10 has a dedicated OTA slot on all 3 networks.

Where are picks 4-6 going to go? Will any of those games end up on OTA or are we likely to see them on FS1 and the BTN?

Is there a Paramount+ or Peacock component to the deal?

This really gives the impression that the B1G is not done with the PAC. Taking UW, Oregon, Stanford, and CAL will essentially kill the conference and force the leftovers to the BigXII. Crazy times.

It's coming! Rittenberg said last week it would happen after media rights were completed and this is her way of throwing nuggets out there.

SEC adds Clemson, FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech, UNC, NC State, UVA, VT, WVU

I could see it play out just like that. I am continually curious about the Arizona schools and Colorado. IMO they are valuable DMA's and schools that don't get mentioned often enough in P2 discussion. I wonder if they're on the radar and who that might exclude if one of the giant two were to take them.

100%, none of us should be surprised considering Warren's NFL background but I think all of us, myself included, are just in shock watching this play out.

Between this Shiite and the NIL crap. I think I am done with college football. These are professionals
Playing in a league. Why pretend the athletes are students affiliated with a a school. They are paid and they can transfer every since.

B1G sucks.

I agree that the idea of 24 doesn't look likely on the short term, but I think we may still see a couple non-ACC schools get invites somewhere...

If B1G and SEC expand to 24 each, the nACC—keeping Notre Dame and running a profitable network with ESPN as partner—is positioned with ESPN to create a 20-24 coast-to-coast league on the tier just down. It can do this even after some current schools move to Super 2, because these resources are still in place and good schools across the country (nPAC, nB12, G5) will still need stability.

If B1G and SEC expand to 24 each, the ACC—keeping Notre Dame and running a profitable network with ESPN as partner—is positioned with ESPN to create a 20-24 coast-to-coast league at the next level down from that. Maybe, but if they plan to do that, they need to start somewhere.

And to me, the fact that they allowed the B12 to invite Cin - suggests that they aren't interested in expanding.

For the ACC, that's the bridge to everything else.

It's a geographic bridge to Indiana (ND); it's a former member of big east, thus a friend/rival to several of their members; and they did well last season - Which gives cover for the move.

The B12 (re-)acted. Why didn't the ACC jump in?

So no, I don't think they plan to expand.

All that tells you is that they weren't interested in expanding. The move didn't pay to make. Who decided whether or not it would pay? ESPN.

It's a different situation now. Rest assured that if ESPN is interested in having the ACC expand, the ACC is. And ESPN may well be interested now, for a number of reasons.

There are schools further west in need now of what the ACC has. The situation offers ESPN a chance to bring new games under its ACCN umbrella.
