I remember when GWB was choosing a running mate, and Cheney was helping him do so. Cheney took a last minute flight to Wyoming. There was speculation that he was going to change his voting domicile from Texas, and he did, so that he could run on the same ticket with Texan GWB. I remember thinking, "Please let this be some sort of distraction, we don't need Dick Cheney anywhere near the white house." Unfortunately I was hoping against hope.

I have heard from mutual friends (I used to go to the same church) that Barbara Bush was livid over GWB's choice of Cheney. She felt that it was Cheney and Rummy who had dragged GHWB's presidency down to defeat against Clinton, and wanted no part of them in her son's administration.

About the only time I have ever felt any favorable feelings toward Cheney was when he was getting pilloried for accidentally shooting a friend on a bird hunt. From everything I have been able to read on the incident, and from years of bird hunting since childhood, I would say the event was at least 99% the fault of the friend (maybe 100%) and at absolute most 1% Cheney's fault. Anybody who knows anything about bird hunting knows that you never, never do what the friend did.

Her embarrassingly desperate effort to hang on to the spot light is predictable for this attention whore. Anyone with any honor and self respect would quietly walk away and not run again when it’s this clear they are so hopelessly out of step with their constituents.

I’m not sure what role Rumsfeld played in the Bush/41 Admin.

But in his capacity as Chief of Staff to Gerald Ford, Sec/Def. to Bush/41, and VP to Bush/43, you could argue that Dick Cheney played a key role in enabling Jimmy Carter *and* Bill Clinton *and* Barack Obama to become President.

He did not hold official positions, other than some minor roles. He was primarily making money in the private sector during the Bush/41 years. But remember that Cheney was Rummy's protege during the Nixon and Ford years. So he would have exercised considerable soft power, and the neocon views that Cheney pushed would largely have come from Rumsfeld. And the senior Bushes began to see them as basically one person.

More than arguably, I think clearly so. And as a spiritual leader of the neocon RINO wing that basically submarined Trump, I think you can add Biden to that list of presidents that he enabled.

Remember that the first neocons, like Irving Kristol, were originally democrats who left the party over the anti-war protests and drug culture of the 1960s.

As much distaste as I have for Trump, Dick Cheney is significantly worse. If Liz Cheney were half as principled as she wants people to think she would distance herself as much as she possibly could from her father politically.

He’s proud that his daughter “will lead the effort to ensure Donald Trump is never again in the Oval Office.” He said it plain as day in the ad. You think Liz isn’t aware of the plan to find any way possible to keep him from running, you’re misguided at best and completely ignorant.

What an atrocious ad.

Not at all sure how they think this plays well with the folks in Wyoming.

It's not about Wyoming. Liz knows that House seat is gone, her goal now is saving her party from Trump. If he runs in 2024 so will she, and while she won't defeat him for the GOP nomination she'll get lots of attention and do some damage to Trump along the way.

If the party is in danger---and its not---attention whore Liz---daughter of a mass murderer----is probably closer to the cause of the danger than the answer to it. Liz would be the least useful "savior" in the history of the earth. Nobody could be more out of step with their constituency than Liz. She really should look up the meaning of the word "Representative" before this is all over. I suspect she'd be shocked at what it actually means.
