UNT isn't ready to fund our collective at the amount SMU is working at, but it appears we will be looking at the $10,000 to $15,000 range and up to $20,000 for out top talent. But, I'm fairly certain not every player in every sport will be signing with our collective. I'll know more after our meeting in about two weeks. The game is changing fast.

Our third stringers will make $36,000 so we will just keep raiding you.

03-lmfao You only say that because SMU couldn't buy him away.

You can't honestly tell me you think Lanier (one 20 win season in seven years as a head coach) is better than McCasland (seven 20 win seasons in eight years as a head coach). And Mcasland has yet to post a losing record as a head coach.

Midwestern State 25-9 (2010-11) DII

Let's think about this.....

NIL means money for players.
Somebody has to pay for it.
Subscription prices go up.
Middle class pays for it.

Rich get richer.
Middle class gets poorer.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No. UNT will be handing out 5 figure deals. And you fail to factor in the fact that you can only place 13 players on scholarship. There are more than 13 great players in the Dallas region alone. Plus, you fail to factor the in-game coaching adjustments. I think the records and stats prove McCasland to be better in that area.

Due to your new NIL arrangements, SMU will certainly continue to have an advantage over UNT in football (unless a really big money UNT donor like Ryan makes it his personal goal to have us keep pace), but I don't see it impacting basketball as much. There's just more talent available. SMU can't buy it all, and UNT has the better coach.

I wouldn't know. I don't go to your board(s). I don't care that much about SMU. I only keep tabs on SMU because we share the same media market, and now conference.

It must suck to have played 78 years in the great Southwest Conference, and have your most notable accomplishment be "the Death Penalty".

Unlike many UNT fans, I have no hate for SMU. You are simple a regional competitor. I do believe SMU will receive an invitation to the PAC when they finally come down from their high horse and realize their expansion targets won't be from the Big12 or ACC. Dallas is valuable and will only grow more valuable as the population continues to boom. By 2032, DFW will be the 3rd largest Media market behind only New York and LA. But, if the BIG10 and Big12 gut the PAC, SMU may end up regretting a move to the PAC. Waiting for the ACC to take their haircut is probably the better long term play.
