Looking at google maps, it looks like every SBC East Team is at least 3 hours closer to Norfolk driving than Empty Sue. That awesome!

It's over 11 hours nonstop to Murfreesboro. We brought over 5k to coastal last season and that's just under 6 hours or so, maybe 5.5. We will travel just fine at that 6 hour or so range.

The ODU crowd at the MB bowl was strong. And that's with a 6 win season. Had to scope out the new SBC addition. The SBC got things right. Looks like some more fun atmospheres at Brooks over the years 04-cheers

RE: What Two Teams Should SBC Add?
I have heard speculation that when the SEC gets to 16 members that football might go to 4 pods of 4 teams each rather than 2 divisions of 8 teams. The regular season conference schedule will be 9 games and follow a "3-6-6" format. With a 3-6-6 conference schedule, a team plays the other 3 teams in their pod each season along with half (6) of the teams NOT in its pod each season. For teams in your pod, of course you alternate home/away each year. But, for the teams not in their pod, its 3 home & 3 away in season 1 and in season 2 the home/away games get reversed. In season 3 & 4, a team plays the other 6 teams not in their pod home/away. In this way, over any 4 year period, a team plays every conference member both home & away at least 1 time. Supposedly a CCG would pit the 2 highest ranked teams from the 4 pods. I find this an interesting format, especially the idea that every team plays all the other conference teams home/away 2 times every 4 years. On the downside, it has the possibility of making what formerly was much anticipated annual rivalry games to be 2 years out of 4 depending on how pods are formed. Also, you get 5 home conference games 1 year but only 4 at home the next year. The 4 pod alignment works out well for basketball also. In pod, 3H & 3A each season. For out of pod 6H & 6A and reverse the following season. The pod format certainly has its pluses and minuses.

So, with all the discussion of SBC eventually (or more likely "potentially") adding another 2 teams and thus getting to 16 teams, would people here be good with the 4 pod alignment and 9 conference games? If yes, does the prospect of 4 pod alignment influence which teams you might want the SBC to add along with which teams are in which pods?

Sounds like the SEC is already working on its argument for why it deserves 4-6 teams in the playoff. “We can only take the 2 highest ranked teams for the conference championship.” Either that or they’ll work a way to have 2 championship games.

IF we do expand to 16 it'll be +1 in the east and +1 in the west and most likely we will go to a 7+1 conference schedule. Pods defeat the purpose for expanding how we did to create the regional rivalries.

" Either that or they’ll work a way to have 2 championship games. "
I guess with 4 pod winners, the SEC will lobby the NCAA to have 2 semifinal games and a CCG finals game. As far as NCAA rules, the SEC does follow the 'Golden Rule'; those with the gold make the rules.
