Utsa hasn’t even had football for 10 years and if they have then this is the 10th year.

We’ve had 11 seasons of football so far, ten of which have been in FBS conferences. My comment had less to do with UTSA though than it does with college football in general and the constant shuffling and never-ending talk of media deals.

I will also acknowledge that UTSA has benefited from the turmoil, as we’ve moved up the ranks quickly (WAC to C-USA to AAC), too quickly some might say. But as a 56-year-old, I’ve followed college football for much longer than my alma mater has had a football program, and I’m just saying the last decade or so has changed the game tremendously in almost every way (conference affiliations, rivalries, media coverage and network tie-ins, NIL, etc.). It’s as if collegiate athletics has suddenly been ravaged by a huge and sudden storm which just continues to shape-shift with no clear end in sight yet.

GOR means all your media rights stay with the conference for the duration of the GOR. You can leave to go to another conference, but the money generated from any media on your rights gets paid to your old conference, not your new conference, for the duration of the GOR. For the Big 12, the existing GOR ends in a few years, hence OUT staying a few more years.

Exit fee is entirely different. Every conference is different. For Big 12 is is two year distributions. This is about $80 million. The duration for that is 99 years, so essentially never expires in our lifetime.

So back to your misguided opinion........if a Big 12 school waited a few years, they do get out of the GOR, but they still have to pay the $80 million. You think the lateral move to the PAC is gonna pay them enough to make them whole after the $80 million payment? This is why nobody is leaving unless it was the B1G or SEC calling.

Now for teams leaving the PAC, it's entirely different. They do not have an exit fee. They are screwed basically with no protection.
If 8 Big 12 teams were to vote for dissolution, then nobody would have to pay anything.

There are a few scenarios where that could happen. Depends on how much inventory ESPN wants. ACC adding teams could reopen the contract. Good chance the PAC needs additional inventory in large markets in order to maximize contract. Texas has some nice markets.

I wouldn’t say anything is 100% set. If Kansas, ISU, or WVU ever got the chance to move to the ACC, I think they would jump… UCF too.

I can see espn breaking up the Big 12 and securing the pieces in the two conferences they will own… ACC and PAC.

The wishcasting is hilarious by some.

Considering none of it helps USF, your assumption is pretty ******* stupid.

I guess I hit a nerve. It's comical that the biggest conference realignment gurus promoting the Big 12 demise, dissolution, or lack or power tends to come from USF fans. It's an extension to the comedy in the bullpen. Sure, it doesn't help the USF program, but seeing posts on thebullspen where posters state that they don't care anymore what happens as long as the "school in oviedo falls flat"....... the wishcasting helps the minds of the bulls.

can you just stop being a dick? you're not funny. you're not clever. you're just an irritating ass. i'm a UC fan, and, as embarrassed as I am, that you claim to be a uc fan too, I can't imagine how bad you make the rest of us look, to the rest of the conference.

I am not in bullspen and your post is still projecting and ******* stupid since it makes no sense to wish for something that doesn’t benefit us at all.
I know logic is tough but you can at least try.

vcoog thinks just because UTSA didnt have football before 2011, that UTSA fans didnt know anything about college football before then...

clt says Charlotte is in a similar position. From fcs startup in 2013 to aac in 2023? Absurd.

#NotreDame very likely staying independent, but new @NBCSports deal will almost certainly have a partnership with the #Big12. While the #ACC and #B1G were apparently wasting time trying to get the Irish as a member, the #Big12's new commish doing work!!

The partnership will be between NBC and the Big 12. Not Notre Dame and the Big 12.

NBC wants additional inventory to pair with Notre Dame. Since ESPN is most likely not bidding on the Big 12, NBC is getting into the game. Hope for the B12 that Fox has money leftover after the Big 10.

That’s how I see it too, ESPN dropping out of B12 top tier rights, probably will make offer for T3 games & ESPN+ content, but not sharing top rights like previously.

If B12 can get a deal with NBC that would be a big plus for them.

Also if NBC is now involved with B12, guessing CBS probably leader in sharing B1G with Fox, I just have a hard time seeing FOX & ESPN sharing anything in the next round of TV deals.

Agree, the 2 are likely loosely tied together, in that NBC wants to use each to lift the value of the other. ND at 10.5 mil per game isn't out of line with what B10 and SEC will get, For the lesser teams to get that the top have to be much higher. You don't get much higher than ND. I doubt the B12 gets near that much per game.

Good outcome for Big12 is for NBC and CBS to get excluded from the BigTen deal. That will leave more networks to bid on them.

True but I believe NBC may be looking only for second tier type rights since they are gonna have to back up the truck to keep ND.
Works out well for the B12, cause it could mean that NBC will pay a bit more for that level of rights.

I could see a Fox first tier, NBC second tier and then they each retain third.

Depends on how much FOX goes in on the BigTen and how much they get from them. I’m thinking FOX is going to go for a big part of BigTen content and that won’t come cheap.

I agree, The B12 is the conference that can fill NBC's need. It truly isn't a ND/B12 partnership.
