Lots of metrics to play with, and some good reads for the forum. I did all that statwork for years and just about freaked myself out. Finally fell into a sort of college footballish meaning of life equation.
To me, what matters is how a team does outside the conference, where national attention is more possible, and opponents are more random. It's hard to avoid being introverted when the big deals are "we won the division!" and "we won the MACC!" To which dozens of other teams, fans and whoever across the nation respond with a resounding snore.
So I mean bowl games and ... unfortunately ... the MAC really sucks at it. If NIU or the MAC wants to elevate itself, this is the metric that needs to improve (imo) --
