Two B12 schools join the PAC, two more AAC schools join the B12

The AAC backfills with replacements from another G5. That conference in turn grabs a couple of FBS schools, whose conferences then raid other FCS conferences, and those conferences look to d2 move ups.

We’ve seen this movie.

There is no reason why it won't be the same movie but this time its a lot of interesting possibilities.

At a minimum more room in the inn for XII schools. BYU, Tech, OSU, KU? This is if the PAC is content to not get back into SoCal or Vegas. SDSU and UNLV with new stadiums could be in play.

This is as open ended as XII expansion was last year, IMO.

Yeah, I mean, maybe they're a tick above. But are they that much higher that you want to shift yourself into another time zone and add increased travel costs? It didn't work out that well for Colorado and that was with USC and UCLA.

Plenty of time to sort things out yet, but you gotta figure that Cal and Stanford will turn up their noses at being left behind. They'd rather take their ball and go home.

Potentially two Notre Dame rivals (USC + Stanford) will be much more difficult to schedule going forward. This puts a huge strain on Notre Dame to make a realignment decision ASAP.

SEC cannot allow the B1G to suddenly balloon to 24 teams or something ludicrous. They will counter and try to get ahead of the B1G's next move.

I can't see this being "Just two teams..." to the Big Ten.

If true, I suspect Washington and Oregon come along for the ride.

TX and OU are more valuable than USC and UCLA, but this impacts the Rose Bowl and relations among two of the three historical power conferences of college football.

It will just cause the ground to quake much more.

Beyond that ...

1) I was wrong, I have said all along that the B1G would not accept teams from the PAC.

2) This move also supports those who have predicted an eventual P4 or P2 "super conference" arrangement. I have also disagreed with that, but this move is a move in that direction.

My prediction on the B1G's format if they stop at 16 --- 4 pods of 4 teams:

Leaders Pod: UM, MSU, The, Purdue.

Legends Pod: IU, Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland.

LAX* Pod: SC, UCLA, Illinois, Northwestern.

Lutefisk Pod: Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin.

*The "L" in "LAX Pod" stands for both "Los Angeles" and "Land of Lincoln"

Not IMO. PAC would still have flagships in Oregon, California, Washington and Arizona. The nB12 will have nothing like that. The PAC institutions are far stronger and more prestigious.

Yeah the UT/OU to sec move was the first shot.

This is the counter from the Big 10.

This is just the beginning.

I can see the B12 go after the two mountain schools, Colorado and Utah.

RE: Breaking News: USC and UCLA to Big 10
This is a great move for USC, UCLA, and the B1G. Wonder if Lincoln Riley knew about this before he jumped to USC?

What do Stanford and Cal do? Washington and Oregon? Do those schools try to tag along, or do they stay and try to rebuild the Pac? And does the B1G take any of them? Surely they would take some if not all of them. This would take the B1G to 20 with a west wing of 6.

There's a reason why the Big 12 schools did not sign a GOR. Either some will move west, or the leftovers of the Pac will move to the Big 12.

Okay. Still treating it as a rumor until both schools and the Big 10 make an official announcement.

As a Penn State grad and native Angeleno, that was a great move by the Big Ten.

As a college sports fan in general, greed has killed what made college sports attractive to me. The older I get, the more I’m inclined to watch the NFL, NBA and MLB.

I don’t see the Big 10 going to 20 teams and adding a bunch more west coast schools.

I mean yeah, but there’s some meat behind this bone if he is reporting it. He is a real insider when it comes to the Pac 12. A guy like this isn’t going to put this out there unless it was happening.

I don't like this move and IMO the notion of LA schools in the "B1G' is absurd.

That said, if it happens, I have to give Kevin Warren major kudos. I have not had much regard for him, IMO he's been weak and indecisive. But this would be a career-making coup for him.

BYU makes some sense but I can't ever see the P12 wanting them. Of course desperate times call for desperate measures.
