I’d like to take this opportunity to point out the Whiners are in last place. That is all.

Liberty #74
Sam Houston State #82
New Mexico State #178
Jacksonville State #264

So Liberty and Sam Houston's sports programs as a whole registered better than anyone in the Current CUSA. #82 is pretty incredible for Sam Houston State. So. Miss at #247 indicates why the Sun Belt should have chosen Liberty instead, or even MTSU or WKU.

It is a combination or rankings of all sports (football, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, lacrosse, track and field, etc) that are associated with the NCAA. Stanford usually finishes really high in these standings as they participate in numerous sports and do well in quite a few.

That's an uncharacteristically low ranking for the Gamecocks. Bad football season paired with an underwhelming baseball season, I s'pose is what killed us. Other sports did reasonably well this year.

Regardless, as clt said regarding Charlotte, "not acceptable."

This rating is spring sports so football not included. While I wish UTEP had a better spring sport season I really want football to continue it's climb upward.

JSU's 264 ranking is Fall, Winter, and Spring combined. We got all of our 25.0 points in the Winter (from men's hoops).

You're right and UTEP's too. Pathetic on our part.

Sam Houston scored a lot of their points in FCS football, which counts the same as any other sport. Drop that out and place them in FBS and it’s a different picture for them.

Do they score FCS football the same as FBS? Sam Houston's baseball team finished 117th and men's basketball was 153rd, neither of which is bad. Both had some nice upset wins over higher teams.

The major sports don’t have much to do with this ranking. Just look at this years CUSA.

It’s nice to have a well rounded athletic program but I would take an excelling Football, basketball and baseball programs over all the other sports combined

Sam Houston qualified for the postseason and racked up points in other sports too including bowling and womens golf.

Yes. A championship in any sport is worth 100 points and the points schedule curves off from there.

Top 25 FBS earn points, but if not top 25, minor points earned for making and winning Bowl games.
FCS has a real bracket so points are based on how far you go in the tournament.

But they are treated as two separate sports in this competition.

(Fun fact, SDSU earned points in both… before they corrected it. The first official release of the fall standings gave South Dakota State’s FCS points to San Diego State (who played in a bowl). For a time they had credit for both sports toward one school!!!)

Thought I'd also take the opportunity to introduce "Bubas Cup" into your vocabulary too.
