Not necessarily----there is a fair chance that ISU may be paying Marquee to jump on the air waves. Back in the day when our games were on the Score in Chicago it wasn't like we were gathering any money from that.

At the very least, we may be getting some paltry sum from our ESPN 3/+ games.

I have no inside knowledge, but I'm guessing Marquee didn't have to outbid other for broadcast rights to ISU.

And as the games are on Marquee---there is still a zero percent chance I will watch any Redbird programming.

Them boys got Saturday games and a new stadium. Plus their baseball team plays in an appropriate D1 level baseball stadium and their basketball team plays basketball.

I'm jealous.

ESPN+ > Marquee

I think directv is the only carrier who even has marquee

They're better than us for being on a channel that a sizable chunk of the regional area can't access and isn't broadcast nationally?

Interesting take.

Comcast, arguably the biggest cable provider in the area, has Marquee.

Nope-most everybody does. I have Comcast and they're there.

As I mentioned earlier, the '85 Bears doc that I directed played on Marquis, that company does not pay sh*t for content. ISU is either paying them, or Marquis is giving them a very nominal fee for the airing rights. Not even close to the stature of our deal with ESPN, as much as a few of the deal points suck with that.

None of the steaming services do.

I totally forgot about Comcast though that’s my bad.

Not all comcast subscribers get Marquee as it's not on all tiers of their service.

It's also not on any of the streaming providers.

ISU's stadium is a not new nor any better than NIU's. They put some lipstick
on their Pig, but it is still a poor Stadium. Agree on Baseball however,

+1 - NIU has better and larger football facilities, as we should. Need to upgrade the suites, but even a mediocre version of the current expansion drawings will eclipse what ISU has added in that department.

RE: 5 ISU games on Marquee
They’re building a bubble IPF, which is the cheap kind only EMU uses in the MAC.

I have Hulu + Live TV and only get NBC Sports Chicago, no Marquee. I’d rather collect $933K to get games on ESPN national streaming at worst than pay money to get on a regional network. Nobody knows that channel exists outside Cubs season.

Their basketball is generally better but they’ve been in the Valley basement for years and just fired their coach. The new coach Pedon could be a good hire but it’s a big rebuild.

Really? Looks a lot nicer than ours. I bet their concessions are better, and I know their bathrooms are. Even if they had port a johns, it would be no worse.

I'd rather have lipstick on pig than a pig with no lipstick.

Oh come on, the link is from 2013

And frankly I’m not sure if that reflects worse on NIU or ISU…03-lmfao
