The situation was exacerbated by Putin's invasion of Ukraine which stymied the import of goods and raw materials from the region, such as fertilizer used to grow cotton.

Cotton is a key material in the manufacture of feminine hygiene products.
Tampons and pads have also been affected by the 41 year high inflation. As Bloomberg reports menstrual pads' price rose 8.3 percent and tampons' price 9.8 percent compared to last year.

The brand most drastically affected by the shortage is Tampax, made by Proctor and Gamble. With targets such as President Joe Biden and Russian President Putin to blame the company added a new person into the mix, Amy Schumer.

As the New York Post reports, Schumer appeared in a very successful Tampax campaign in 2020 that caused demand to go up neatly 8 percent. Tampax said the already high demand set the stage for the recent shortages. The star of movies "Snatched" and "Trainwreck" did respond on Instagram by saying she didn't even have a uterus anymore, after having a hysterectomy in 2021 due to her endometriosis.

True enough but when did they start including women and children as specific targets? I think is was some time around 2008 when we started seeing the first forays into that theater but it really kicked into overdrive when we installed a senile old man as a puppet.
