This happened after the Tampa Bay Lightning vs New York Rangers game last night at Madison Square Garden.

I do have to wonder what the Tampa fan said to the Rangers fan, though....

After the game, as fans exited two men apparently got into a verbal dispute. A video posted to Twitter shows what happened next - the Rangers fan wheeled around and delivered a stunning left hook to the Tampa fan's face, flattening him.

The video was seen more than 1.2 million times in 10 hours.

According to the NYPD, a Good Samaritan witnessed the incident and tried to stop the assailant, who then punched him in the face too.

Police and security were able to ultimately locate James Anastasio, 29, of Staten Island while he was still at MSG and arrest him.

Anastasio faces two counts each of assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

Both of the victims declined medical attention, police said.

Madison Square Garden condemned what it called the "abhorrent assault" and said Anastasio would be banned from all MSG Entertainment facilities for life.

I don't know what happened to the Good Samaritan, but the guy in the vid who got clocked really should see a doctor ASAP. It sounded like his head hit the floor pretty hard. That's the kind of thing that can kill you later.

My thoughts exactly. That was a loud thump when his melon hit the floor.

One time leaving a Cowboys-Cardinals game some Cardinals fan was talking trash behind me. At one time he said pretty much so that I could hear him (I'm a 'boys fan), "man, those Cowboy fans are probably feeling pretty bad with the loss". I turned around and just told him, "yep, we are and you probably know that feeling pretty well." He looks at me and says, yeah, ha, ha, you're right".

There wasn't any need for fists, it was just good trash talking.

But this is New York, home of poor sports fans. You pay over a grand for playoff seats close to the ice and then get in a brawl.

I refuse to ever root for a NY team. (or Philly, for that matter)

You can pretty much draw the line at Mason & Dixon for me.

There was a nice fight after the game between players.
