WKU announces new athletic facilities
Guess the indoor practice facility for football and new press box will be next.

Quote:BREAKING: The WKU Board of Regents approve the construction of new facilities for the school’s softball and soccer programs. AD Todd Stewart said it cost around $3 million. Funding will primarily come from WKU’s share of exit revenue from departing members of C-USA.

True but all donations are appreciated. Sorry to see the AAC6 go but at least a few bucks will come in handy.

Why does a divorce cost so much? Because it’s worth it.

I have no issues with the remaining CUSA members. With the remaining and most of the new members the conference should be fine if somehow you can get rid of Judy.

USM went 10-35 combined in Football and Hoops and suddenly the SBC will be the cure? I don't think CUSA was the problem.

I've seen many a divorce in which the family is far better off once the deadbeat spouse is gone. You're right..its worth it.

Apparently a really nice Women's Soccer and Softball facility.

"Stewart said WKU will put out a bid for construction in the coming weeks, but the facility is anticipated to cost roughly $3 million. The funds for constructing the facility will come primarily from exit fees from those leaving Conference USA, as well as the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation if needed. Construction is expected to begin this summer."

I can grantee you it will not have wing shape object sticking up in the air that looks so out of place it must be a offering to a pagan god. Or something. Actually Western tends to build for need not what the Jones think they need. But it will fit into the campus (even if its located on the south campus) and I dont think I'm read one bad comment from a visiting fan about anything on the Western campus

A IPF will be coming soon and that will cost 15 to 18 million but if its in the same type of build that I saw pictures of last year...its the first building that will not fit into the Western style on campus. While needed it will probably look like UNT's wing...out of place.

Why did UNT build the endzone seating like that?

I dont think he intended to ruffle feathers. It just seems with construction costs here in DFW, we wouldn't be able to build a softball facility for $3M.

I was going to point out that a lot of people said the same thing ("what can UNT build for less than $100M?") when we got a great deal to build Apogee for $75M back when similar sized stadiums were being built for 3x that amount. However, your comment about our stadium maybe actually proves the opposite - since the wing looks "out of place" some would say we got what we paid for by maybe going cheap

There are more knowledgeable Mean Green fans on here, but I always understood that it was supposed to look like our Eagle logo. It also makes it unique amongst college stadiums.

With Joe he's ALWAYS trying to make a point when it comes to money. This might be the first time, if not.

When Gary Ransdall was Western's president if something got built you could count on it fitting into campus and it would be done first class, with the money being spent. With Mr Bow Tie, I dont really know if that will be the case.

Marshall built to just be building when they added on to the endzone and it looks awful. It looks like something thrown together. Actually their whole stadium looks older than Western's and it was built in I believe 1990, Western's 1967.

I'm not trying to drag Marshall down because they moved to the SBC....I said this for 8 years now. Inside filled with fans it looks great but outside walking up only the front part looks halfway decent

As a builder (35+ years) making something look just as good on the outside is important to me. I understand taking chances on something, like UNT did with the wing. But someone should have said....this is going to look odd and out of place

South Alabama has a really nice campus and when they built the football stadium it looks like it was built when all the other building where...it just fits with the amount of money they had to spend.

I like the uniqueness of certain stadiums, such as NT's. So many of them all look alike and aren't memorable.

I like our "Wing Zone". I think it is a unique feature in college football, and it complements our logo.

My initial comment was in regard to the ever increasing cost of construction. I can't think of anything that is going down in price. Inflation is running rampant, and $3 million doesn't seem like that much money for a building project. But, congratulations. I am happy for WKU. 04-cheers
